NEW SUBMISSION LENGTH CRITERIA: 500 to 800 words

As we are reminded by Liane, "We can't keep doing the same thing and expect different results...." With this in mind, the length of OMTimes article submissions is being reduced!

The reduction comes because we crossed the realm of 90% mobile readers, and they usually have to read articles between things on their iPads, and phones. Articles of smaller length will also offer us greater ability to provide audio versions that will fit better into our more mobile size.

ALSO....

We are asking for a favor, especially of our seasoned, Spotlight Writers... to check your most recent submissions that may not have been notified of selection yet, or any others you have in your queue. See if any of them may be made to fit this new size parameter of 500 to 800 words. Check your "inclusive voice," make sure they are proofed and print-ready with your bios included, and please provide an extra article or two that fit this new size. Of course, the sooner you get these into the community, the better. Feel free to flag them with special words: "Here is my Extra Submission" or "Hey, I REVISED this for you!!" (or words to that effect) so we know you are providing these as additional shares of your bountiful talents.

We are eagerly planning for the coming months into the summer, so topics related to the many things the summer solstice/season brings, such as holidays and special festivals, etc., are welcomed!! Please let Regina, Lisa, or me know if you have any questions. Thanks for your time, and we look forward to hearing from you soon. ~ Blessings!

Thanks for sharing the update Kathy!

Thanks @Kathy Custren for sharing the new criteria

Thank you. I will be working on  some articles for submission for the summer.  How should I differentiate for you when they are for consideration for publishing vs. blogging like I usually do so I can remain a part of this fabulous community?

Blessings.

Veronica

Hi, Veronica - We are pretty easygoing! Although, it should be clear to everyone that this group IS the submission portal for the magazine, not just a blog site. If you do happen to have a blog-type post, simply put some words at the beginning of your title--"Blog Only" or some such term ought to do. If, however, you have an honest-to-goodness article that you'd like considered, feel free to message Lisa, Regina, or myself directly so we know to review it. Thanks so much for asking ~ Blessings! :)

Well I just posted my first article of 1175 words. I think I would like to leave it at that and I'll do future submissions at the revised length. This should work well or me, I had planned to focus on smaller aspects of the main ideas so as to present a narrow focus on particulars.  I hope this works for you.  I'm excited about OM Times, it looks like a good way of communicating ideas not at this time in the mainstream.

Hi Kathy,

OM Times does a great job with the added subtitles (and the graphics are fantastic), and I'm wondering whether or not you would prefer that the author not add or conversely prefer that they do add subtitles in the preliminary article. I've noticed that some writers add them but most writers seem not to.  And if you prefer that we do add them then would these subtitles count toward the 800 word max limit? Frankly though I believe you may do the better job with the subtitles. I find it a bit difficult when I try. Thanks very much.

Hi, Arthur - We do leave it up to each writer to provide subtitles as they may be comfortable doing so. It is all part of the editing and enhancements we provide in making every article suitable for publication and optimized for the Google-bots of the Internet to find it. To answer your question, yes, they are part of the word count (which is never an exact science, IMHO). Whatever works best for you, my friend, is just fine. ~ Blessings!

Okey Dokey Thank you

I hope you are doing well. I am feeling better each day. Its been a LONG and challenging 11 months but I am heading into happy, healthier times. I am a warrior !
