The OM Writer's Workshop...

An informal daily workshop where writers can engage with Editors and each other to discuss day to day problems in creating articles, spelling, prose, use of language, rhetoric, rhythm, grammar, punctuation, style, and to just about throw anything in the pot to produce the perfect OM Times piece of creative writing. Or, to just help find your way with words ...

Thank you Dear Kathy-This has been a wonderful year for me in my association with OM Times. I have proudly invited hundreds of my friends and family to subscribe. The articles are so up lifting, and I have found information that has helped me personally through this past year. My husband has been very sick, has had six surgeries. (One more to go in 2014) However 2014 is going to be a year of spiritual reconnection on our little blue planet. I am excited and writing about the NEW POPE, a sign that indeed the Goddess has arrived.

Dear Om Writers - just a reminder that articles need to have a brief BIO added at the end to give the reader a brief snapshot of the writer. Some awesome articles have been delayed while we either put together a brief BIO or ask the writer to re-visit the article and add one. A big smile to all who have been adding brief BIO's automatically to their submissions

OM Workshop tip for today. Remember that Ellipsis (. . .)in an article can have great effect, where used in context and sparingly, but where space is critical (eg OM Times 1,200 words per article) extending the ellipses to beyond the 3 dots, eg (……………) may have the opposite effect on the readability of your work. Just saying…

Dear OM Writers. When using a quote in an article, eg Ghandi once said "............" please put the quote in double quotation symbols ("). For a quote within a quote, a single quotation symbol can be used ('). Please only use quotations if you are using the exact words used in the original quote - this is standard English practice. If you add a word or two to the quote, re-write it without using quotation marks. Quotes can bring an article alive, and it has most impact in the article when the proper rules of quotations are applied.
