- Amanda Miller is seeking to publish her memoir, "One Breath, Then Another," a highly personal coming of age about overcoming herself as her own worst enemy. She earned an MFA in Creative Nonfiction from The New School where she studied closely with writers Shelley Jackson, Jonathan Ames and Susan Cheever. A chapter from "One Breath, Then Another" has been published in Underwired Magazine and another chapter will be included in a book-length memoir anthology by Telling Our Stories Press. Ahe also have a creative nonfiction piece, "Pizookie," in Cratelit, UC Riverside's online literary journal. A recent graduate of Community Word Project's teaching artist training program, she was invited to be a guest speaker in a high school's all-girls creative writing class, where she shared an excerpt from her memoir that received a highly enthusiastic response. As seeks representation and publication, she is continuing to search for opportunities to share excerpts with groups of young women and teach workshops on autobiographical writing.
Amanda has made it her life's mission to help heal and empower others. In addition to being a writer, she is a nationally certified massage therapist and a yoga instructor, and she holds a BFA in Acting from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. She is a member of Cherub Improv, an improvisational comedy group that provides performances and workshops to underserved communities, such as hospitals, senior centers and cancer support organizations. She is also a member of the improvisational company, Playing With Reality, which invites audience volunteers to become the protagonist of a story created on the spot, not for the purpose of comedy but rather to empower people through play.
