In life there are many paths up the mountain, and that connect to the Everlasting. Each is unique and individual yet deep and profound. I will share with you my path, and the journey I have taken to get there.

I was raised by my mother who was a single parent for many years after her divorce. After her divorce she dated several men until she finally settled on one that ended up being an alcoholic and drug abuser. For a long period of time I hated everything about life and myself. I saw no reason to live until I attempted taking my life. I then realized there had to be a greater reason for my existence. That’s when I began my excursion out of my heart of darkness and started to make my path up the mountain.

After this realization, my life slowly began to unfold as I determined to make my life change. I went from a public school to a charter school which helped improve my self esteem and self confidence. After my transfer to my charter school, that was the year my mother finally left her abuser. When my mother and I had left we had endured seven years of what I deem as a living hell. We left wounded and filled with raw emotion. After we had left my mom was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

That was the most vulnerable I had ever felt and been in my entire life because I could do nothing to help her. Her flash backs were unpredictable and I was left feeling helpless. So I made it part of my mission to find a way to help her. When I was a junior in high school, I went through a ceremony that deeply impacted me and the way I was to start healing.

The ceremony was an Apache rite of passage known in their language as the Naii’ees or Changing Ceremony. The ceremony is a reenactment of their creation story that centers around a woman called White Painted Lady or Changing Woman. Before going through the ceremony itself I went through a series of training intensives that were designed to prepare me for the hardships of adult life. This ceremony and the lessons that I learned have helped me in my journey towards making my life and the life of others on this planet a better one.

Since then I have dealt with many inner struggles and life obstacles that have contributed to the way I produce my art, what I study, and the way I view my life. My views are that this life is filled with many wonderful and horrible things and that my purpose in this life is to help people see these things. My art, poetry, and research in psychology center on these things. Take a look and you will be amazed at what you will see.

Learning to Fall

Posted on October 14, 2009 at 2:30am 0 Comments

Like the baby bird that falls out of the nest

We must first learn to fall before we can fly.

There have been many times that I have fallen

Only to learn to grow wings to fly.

I have fallen from the nest and soared high above

Only to come back and realize that it is my

Falling that is what taught me to fly.

The falling part is the scariest part

To overcome. But to feel the exhilaration of flight,

And know that I can land on my feet,

That is the… Continue

Echoes of Light

Posted on October 14, 2009 at 2:28am 0 Comments

In times of darkness,

or just when things are sad life

seems to have no meaning or maybe very little.

But it is in times like this when your heart

And mind need to stay open and listen.

Through the screaming of the darkness,

We can heal the echoes of light,

That when we are closed we often miss.

The echoes of light come and remind us

That in the screaming of the darkness,

You’ll find the blissful sound of silence.

The silence that we… Continue

No One Notices

Posted on October 14, 2009 at 2:27am 0 Comments

No one notices the screams of chaos,

Dogs barking, loud music, racing cars,

And loud people.

No one notices the serenity of nature

As she chirps her songs through the

Crickets and toads.

No one notices her whispers

In the dead of night.

In all the chaos of the city

She is still loud enough

To make her voices heard.

They are faint but if you listen

Hard enough you can hear.

You can hear and find

Serenity in the screaming… Continue

I wished Upon a Star

Posted on October 14, 2009 at 2:26am 0 Comments

The last time I wished upon a star,

All my dreams came true and

Even more than I wished for.

If I knew what I was in for

I never would’ve wished for hell,

Or for a new life.

In those years I was lucky

I was not stabbed with a knife

Or done away with one strike.

To every day waking up

At the fear of death breathing

Down your neck.

To feel as though the grim reaper

Followed your every footstep.

To stare Satan in the… Continue

My Fault

Posted on October 14, 2009 at 2:25am 0 Comments

It’s my fault I made him mad.
It’s my fault he drank.
It’s my fault because I wished on that stupid star.
It’s my fault that mom’s not so tolerant.
Why do I feel so guilty?
Why do I have to live with my faults?
Why do we live like this?
I miss life.
I would give anything to have it back!
