Guided Afterlife Connections: Healing Grief and Loss

After the death of my 24 year old son last year, I embarked on a journey of grief, and in the midst of this grief, I tried to find peace. Knowing that I needed support in dealing with my loss, I began researching different options for processing the pain. As a psychotherapist trained in utilizing bilateral stimulation and the use of eye movements for processing trauma, I was intrigued when I discovered that there was a therapist in Washington who was using bilateral stimulation and eye…See More

Cyber-noia, Relationship Anxiety in the Cyber World

In this age of technology and digital communication, I have seen a growing trend in my practice of serious technology related issues in relationships.  These issues can signal the beginning of the end for relationships as they can propel the couple to try to control each other and to descend deeper and deeper into codependency and mistrust. Cell phones are wonderful things, they allow us to stay in constant communication in a myriad of ways, but they can be the source of much conflict. Text…See More

Loving Pain

"I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love." Mother TeresaMany situations in life cause pain. Scorching , excruciating, soul-searing pain. It can come out of nowhere, your lover leaves, you lose your baby, cancer. All destined to turn your world on its ear and to leave you with deep, abiding pain. Alice Cooper described it as feeling like "the man with no skin." Sleep is evasive, being awake is intolerable, and it feels there is no…See More

How to Parent in a Crazy, Scary, Mixed Up World

Receiving the news about the Connecticut school shooting this week was bone chilling and heartbreaking. Parents everywhere ran to hug their own children while feeling grief and pain for the parents of the school children, myself included. The world does not feel like a safe place when we cannot even expect that our elementary school aged children to be safe receiving an education. It is overwhelming to add another fear to the anxious mix that parenting brings. How can you focus on doing work…See More

How Can Mindfulness Help Your Anxiety?

Posted on March 13, 2013 at 7:12pm 0 Comments

Anxiety is pervasive in our world today. From the poor economic climate, to traffic, to tragedy in the news, our culture contributes as well. Our modern society is busting at the seams with stimuli that trigger symptoms of anxiety in our bodies and minds.

Have you noticed that you can go about your day with a sense of anxiety that flares up on an incremental basis? Even as our minds get busy, the physical…

Barefoot For Anxiety

On a recent trip to the beach I was reminded again why I am such an advocate for the practice of earthing. Earthing is the act of coming into contact with the earth without wearing shoes in order to release negative energy. With the advent of rubber or plastic soled shoes many of us have lost the benefit of being “grounded.”  Within a half an hour of being barefoot on the shore I felt like a new person.

There are studies that report the neuromodulative health benefits of earthing,…
