Enough IS Enough: A personal Journey from Self Help to Self Acceptance

My name is Cindy and I am a recovering health and wellness addict.I have spent many years of my life in pursuit of "good health". Healthy lifestyle, healthy diet, healthy outlook. For many years, on any given night, I could have been found getting my “fix” cuddled up under a warm blanket with a hot cup of tea (organic, of course)…See More

The Obstacle of Optimism

I have lost my youthful optimism.Optimism, by definition, is a feeling or belief that good things will happen in the future. It is a way of framing life in a positive light and is generally a quality that most people would consider positive. Well, not me. I have come to realize that I am better off without it. It happened quite suddenly, about three years ago now. Actually, it might not have been the process of losing it that happened suddenly, but rather the realization one day that it was…See More

How I Changed my Mind

I yelled at my kids this morning.  Okay, I assure you this is not a confessional sort of thing. I'm not feeling guilty or repenting for my parental shortcomings. I yelled at my kids and I feel the need to share because, well, it just felt SO damn good! No, no......I am not a cruel or sadistic type of person, nor am I looking to unload my negativity on others, but if you'll hear me out I can assure there is a point to this. The details are incidental, so I won't bore you with them, but I do…See More

I Believe in Skeletons

I once believed in the songs of meadowlarks and the secret mists of early mornings. And that the dreams of men might sail on ardent breezes and rest in the gentleness  of a warm, springtime embrace. I believed in the promise of seasons. Each constant and unfurling in rhythmic measure, forward flowing and building upwards  to mark…See More

Golden Blues

In fields of goldenrods, sad smiles are met with nods as true beauty is at last found cloaked in the colour of dreams and gods. I once read about you against back drops of blue inside a poem that someone sowed from all that they once believed they knew.  But from amongst the weeds  my broken life it bleedsin full colour it paints true goodness  not from roses, but from goldenrod seeds.…See More

Wounded, Still Liberated

"When inward tenderness finds the secret hurt, pain itself will crack the rock and 'AH!' let the soul emerge." ~ RumiWhen we find ourselves in hurtful situations we often close up to protect ourselves. We feel a vulnerability lurching just below the surface of who we believe we are, and so when that threat appears, we construct walls…See More

The Gift in What's Already There

What on Earth is happening to me?You are very concerned.I am different. I have changed. My once meticulous house is now a disaster. There are weeds growing in my garden. My "helicopter parent"-ing skills have taken a nose dive. I send my kids to school with odd socks and dirty fingernails and…See More

Profile Information

Please provide a brief Author Bio ( 60 to 100 words maximum, please. )
Who am I? I am many things to many people. I am a wife, a mother, a sister, a daughter and a friend. What I have recently discovered is that I cannot identify myself with these labels, because even if my roles were stripped away I would still be here. What seems more lasting and true is to call myself a "lover of beauty". The ways in which I express this love may change over time, and so may my definitions of it, but it is something of myself that seems much more essential than anything else I could possibly say.
