The Heart of Connection

Empathy is defined as “the psychological identification with or vicarious experiencing of the feelings, thoughts, or attitudes of another.” Empathy results from understanding another deeply. When we look at the world from our partner’s point of view, we begin to bridge the gap of understanding between us. When we…See More

Too Soon To Tell

There is a story about an old Chinese farmer who lived in ancient times. He was the envy of his rather small village, because unlike most of the other farmers, he possessed a horse. One day, however, his horse ran away and his neighbors who soon heard of his misfortune were quick to offer him words of consolation.…See More

Looking for Salvation in All The Wrong Places

To the degree that old unhealed wounds and unmet needs are carried into adulthood, we will see our partner as having the power, even the responsibility to rescue us from this pain by providing us finally, with the quality of love that we never received. What we desire from this person is love that is healing, affirming,…See More

Linda Bloom commented on Linda Bloom's blog post 'No Title'
"  Abstract: Seeking help when our relationship is suffering is wise. Having an agreement in place that whenever one of the pair wants to get consultation, you go, no questions asked, is a good guideline. Intelligent couples know that there will…"

Getting Help Sooner Rather Than Later

Most couples wait too long to get help. Unnecessary suffering occurs in secrecy and isolation when you are too embarrassed to ask for assistance. The time to get help for your marriage is when one (not both) of you feels the need for it. Putting this agreement in place before things deteriorate will support early…See More

Lining Up What We Feel, Think, Say and Do

“Happiness is when what you think, that you say, and what you do are in harmony.” Mahatma Gandhi If we find ourselves thinking about the "I" word, maybe it's because we’ve been noticing the places in the lives of others and in our own life where it's been out. The 'it' that's out is "integrity." When we aren’t…See More

Telling the Truth Without Blame and Judgment

When we tell the truth in a responsible, respectful and non-blaming way that doesn't make the other person wrong, and acknowledges our part in a breakdown, a remarkable thing often happens. Judgments dissolve, resentment melts, and we feel closer to and forgiving of the other person and often of ourselves as well. …See More

"Abstract: It behooves us to rethink our own personal definition of success lest we be drawn into the prevailing view of our society. Feelings of true happiness and success come from deep and loving relationships that bring peace, fulfillment, and…"

The Wider Definition

“People may spend their whole lives climbing the ladder of success only to find, once they reach the top, that the ladder is leaning against the wrong wall.” Thomas Merton. The notion that money can’t buy happiness is deeply ingrained in the minds of most of us. Most of us have heard words to that effect since we…See More
