I have mixed feelings regarding the holiday season and gift giving. I love the fact that family and friends get together and celebrate the holiday season. I must say, I am questioning the great emphasis that we put on material gift giving and receiving.
There are many reasons we may not like to give gifts during this time. It may be financially stressful to buy friends and family “suitable” gifts (assuming you know what they may like or appreciate). We may go to various sales…Continue

Note from Debby: I found this poetry selection today very intriguing, as for days I’ve been reading about non-duality, the natural state of being. We are not the body, we are not the mind, who then? We are the awareness, the stillness that is the host for what comes and goes. Rumi has described it beautifully here.
The Guest House
This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

As we prepare to birth yet another new year, our thoughts may be on the year now past. Perhaps we feel many things could have been better. We see loss in various human arenas: finance, institutions, relationships, and more. We may have regrets over some of our personal actions or inactions, those things we did or failed to do. We may feel abused, even victimized, by the actions of others.
We need to ask ourselves if we want a rehash of 2010 or if we are…Continue

Did you wince at the title of this blog? I did when I typed the words. The effects ricocheted around my body like the ball on a pinball machine and touched memories of times when I have felt this about people I have dated and times when exes have felt it about me.
This blog is not about answers to why we love and then we don’t, because only the Universe can know such secrets. It is merely an exploration of where you maybe at right now with someone you love dearly and how in…Continue
The next segment of « Octoccata » is entitled « Reoctoverture. » Basically, this section is a reprise of the introduction, hence the name, as it restates the theme presented therein, albeit…Continue

Last summer, a working vacation, became an incredible "Adventure!"
I had ventured out to experience ... I knew not what! It had been many years since I had an extended vacation and never that distance. I have blessed & been protected much of my life. I can't really say I had a horrible child hood - because I did not. I can say I have gone through things that caused me pain and / or stunted my emotional + spiritual growth. Each thing I have gone through ... I know people…Continue
The fourth movement from « Octoccata » is entitled « Biorhythalead. » Its title came about from the markers I used to identify each of the sub-sections of the composition.

Some Asheville residents have recently been evicted from affordable housing in the Historic District of Asheville, NC. The property owner has made efforts to bring the needs of the local people before the city council, as he presents his case. I have no idea how these people on fixed incomes will survive? I am pretty sure the city is not concerned about that -…Continue
