We are living in times like no other. Change is in the air and the world is shifting faster than anyone of us can imagine. Many people have embarked upon a spiritual path in an attempt to raise their consciousness and to find ways to be a part of a growing population that is interested in ascending and becoming more “aware”. We are seeking ways to evolve, expand and connect. But, what is the responsibility of having stepped onto the path of spirituality? What is the responsibility of…

Each of us holds a part of the responsibility in creating a violent world.
It takes real courage to stop not only violence toward others but to stop the violence that is created within yourself. For to heal one would organically heal the other. Being able to look at the small yet extremely powerful, violent ways of being within ourselves takes a great amount of compassion. If we allowed this compassion for ourselves to look within, then we know as a truth that we would have to…

When I contemplate the horrific events of the suicidal crashing of Flight 9525, I can't but help to see a tragic irony. In our attempt to protect ourselves from the "outside people" who can do us harm, we built a "super door" which instead of protecting the passengers on the flight from deliberate violence, led to their ultimate demise. Now airlines are rushing to implement 2-person cock pit rules to prevent future repeats of this incomprehensible event. In essence we are forced to find…

Why did you embark on the journey of consciousness? What made you decide to study metaphysics, learn to meditate or seek out spiritual mentors and consultants? I have pondered these questions myself.
For me, the answer is pretty simple, really. I was tricked into it by my soul. My ego would like to say I wanted to be my highest self and be the change I wanted to see in the world. But, after years of study and inner reflection I know better. Honestly, my life was just in…

H…E…L…P… I don’t know about you, but when I utter those four little letters together as the word they’re meant to spell, it’s like chewing on broken glass. Why is it so hard for some of us, including myself, to ask for help? I could name a few reasons. Pride, perfectionism, shame, fear… Each of us may claim a particular reason, but what it all ends up boiling down to is our fear of vulnerability. To be vulnerable is to expose oneself to potential criticism and/or emotional injury. Who…

I can't breathe, because the news and propaganda show me something that isn't the full story to keeps the masses steered in the "right" direction. Let them blow off a little steam through a few protests and it'll all die down in a bit...
I can't breathe because I have kept my mouth shut wanting people to like me while what I really want to do is point out the elephant in the room.
I can't breathe, because pointing out the obvious "other side of the coin" is not…

Hope…to have hope…to be hope…to lose hope.
Hope can help one persevere through a crisis. Hope can calm, soothe and inspire. But, what exactly is hope and how can we lose it?
Webster’s Dictionary includes words such as to wish, expect, intend or place confidence. By definition, hope seems to be an action where our power is placed outside ourselves to elicit or expect some sort of change.
What good is hope, though, if there is no action behind it?…

Mostly likely, if you are reading this article, it is because you are a spiritual seeker and will likely know the inspiring analogy of becoming a butterfly. The caterpillar, having encapsulated itself in a chrysalis, undergoes the disintegration of its old self, a caterpillar, and becomes something new, a butterfly. This analogy gives us hope that upon facing our darkest hour and undergoing transformation, we will emerge as something new and beautiful.
We all want to be…

“No trumpets sound when the important decisions of our life are made. Destiny is made known silently.” Agnes De Mille
I absolutely love this quote. How many times has following through on your decisions been influenced by the need to have that decision validated? For me, it’s been at least a million! I look for burning bushes, flashing signs anything to assure me that I’m not going to make a mistake and fall flat on my face.
What will people think? Will I survive financially?…

The other day at the supermarket, as I scanned the tomatoes for something ripe, a woman stepped up and said “It’s a shame. This generation will never know what it’s like to taste a good tomato”. She was mature in age and had a wonderful, heavy, “old world” European accent. I knew she knew her tomatoes. I agreed and thus began a conversation describing the wonderful experience of eating a tomato from the garden warm from the sun. We both grew up with fresh from the vine tomatoes so we shared…

Grief and sadness. Anxiety and anger. These are emotions that everyone feels at some point in their life. These emotions are not ones that we choose to feel. Instead, in a time of positive of thinking and manifestation, we “choose” to feel joy and we “choose” to feel happiness.
In our culture, to be with these “negative” emotions is socially unacceptable and considered negative or weak. Billions of dollars are spent every year on drugs to avoid feeling painful emotions. Billions…

Drop every leaf
Winter is on its way.
Lighten your load before the days become shorter
And the daylight reduces its illumination.
The weight of winter snows can be heavy to bear.
If the leaves of fall continue to cling
There is risk of breaking your strong branches.
Drop every leaf
Be grateful for their participation in your growth
They have served you well
Ready yourself
Spring will come…

Come sit. Come have a seat and tell me your troubles and fears.
Let your tears flow for they are a soothing salve for my poisoned rivers and fields.
If you are free of troubles, then cry for the sheer joy of it.
Cry in awe of the beauty that surrounds you.

Go into the dark night.
Go in…
A world of beauty is there.
Do not be afraid…
I am with you.
Go in…
The light awaits.

Gratitude…it’s one of the words that we use over and over to express our appreciation for what we have in our lives whether it’s tangible or intangible. We are taught to have an “attitude of gratitude” as a way of good living. To be seen as not grateful is to be seen as selfish and greedy. Feeling gratitude makes us happy! It sends positive energy into the world. Who wouldn’t want to be in an “attitude of gratitude”?
But, what if gratitude was more than just…

I was watching an interview on some self help show about how to find inner peace and suddenly it occurred to me…”Why am I sitting here listening and intellectualizing what I already know?”
Do you often find yourself trying to think your way back to a “better” way of being? Do you read books or listen to shows as a means of “figuring out” why you don’t feel connected or satisfied? Step away from the TV and put down those books. They are fine for providing tips and insights, but…
