The Winged Life (revisited)

« The Winged Life » takes its name from William Blake's poem « Eternity » :

He who binds himself to a joy

Does the winged life destroy

But he who kisses the joy as it flies

Lives in eternity's sunrise

This piece is a singularity as far as the poligrafic repertoire is concerned.…

Confrontation (Polygraph part 2)

« Polygraph » is intended as a portrait of human relationships turning to the sour, hinting at the necessity of constant genuineness. The suite lasts about ten minutes and is composed of the following four sections : « Exposition, » « Confrontation, » « Deliberation, » and « Vindication. »

The second movement, « Confrontation, » aims to depict the often difficult yet cathartic experience of having to stand one's ground and…

Exposition (Polygraph part 1 - revisited)

« Polygraph » is intended as a portrait of human relationships turning to the sour, hinting at the necessity of constant genuineness. The composition lasts a little over 10 minutes and is composed of the following four sections :

  1. Exposition
  2. Confrontation
  3. Consideration
  4. Vindication

I have a particular fondness for that piece of music. One fine evening many years ago, the…

Leftoverturned

When I complete a composition there are often unused ideas left. Some of those I find actually pretty good but if I can’t see how to fit them into the piece then there’s not much choice but to discard them. For a while.

I rarely delete stuff, I archive. Once in a while I browse the archives and listen to such ideas in no particular order, and sometimes I get to see a way to combine some of them. Then I have the seed of a new…

Void

On a background of Wall Street Bailouts and Large Hadron Colliders, « Void » paints sunyata, the Buddhist concept of emptiness.

From Wikipedia :

In Buddhism, the realization of emptiness of inherent existence is a “state of pure consciousness” in which the practitioner realizes all particular objects…

Leaving The Ashram

« Leaving The Ashram » is the third chapter of « Entering The Stream, » a trilogy describing an episode of intense introspection that will open our second album, « Satori. »

This instrumental suite comprises four movements :

  • Meditative Walk
  • Running The Last Stretch
  • The Tabla Master’s Enigma
  • The Ordinary II

It was originally put together in 2004, way before…

Waking In Heaven

« Waking In Heaven » is a short instrumental about learning to trust life and allowing it to do its thing so we can end up where we belong, healed, hopeful, happy, and in love with life.

The composition starts with a minimalist approach, goes to the grandiose, and then takes a leap for the celestial. An irresistible mood lifter for me, it works well on its own, but I have a feeling that it could end up as the concluding…

Stereoscopy

« Stereoscopy » is the definitive title of a song which I used to refer to as « Point Of View. » I changed my mind about the title while writing and singing the melodies, thinking that the former word doesn’t get the chance to be employed very often, while the latter phrase is rather common. Well, around here at least.

The underlying idea of the song is that of the benefit of sharing perspectives, for instance to get…
