30 Day Challenge: Applying the Practices of Yoga for Joy, Creativity and Wholeness in Life
This Challenge is all about experiencing Yoga through some practices and principles.
It is all about YOUR individual experience.
We are not concerned here with memorizing facts about the four basic schools or types of Yoga – Hatha, Bhakti, Karma, and Jnana – or even the blending of these four, Raja Yoga, though they may come up. Nor are we concerned with memorizing details or concepts regarding how Yoga sees the energy system of the body – Chakras, Kosas, Vayus, Vasanas, Samskarras, etc.
Instead, in this challenge we will focus on four areas using principles and practices from these ancient teachings to positively impact our lives, regardless of age, body type or ability. In YOGA, we like to say, “You can only begin from where you are.” That applies not just to today, but to every day and every moment. Let’s begin to brush away some cobwebs through experiencing. This journey is much more about your intuition, your heart, your body and your spirit than your mind.
I am here to help guide YOUR journey. Each of the four weeks in June will have a theme.
On the first day of each week an article about the theme for the week will be posted, along with a daily practice. Each day will build on the theme in some way. I may post an audio or video message, a photo, a poem, a link, a quote or music to experience as a practice for that day.
This journey can be taken by individuals at all levels of practice. This challenge is not just an asana approach to YOGA. This four week journey is meant to provide opportunities that will enable you to experience some of the beauty, elegance, universality and profundity of the entire system of Yoga.
My hope is by the end of the month you will have more strength and connection within, and find more balance and peace in your life, just as the students taking my classes have found for themselves. My wish for you is that doors of possibilities open for you, and you have at least a glimpse of how life is really meant to be lived and embraced in a growingly curious, integrated, and joyful way.
Teaching is a dynamic process, wherein the teacher benefits as well as the students. When I teach, I am inspired each and every time by the people in my classes, workshops, and by my private clients as well. I ask you to please post your questions and comments as things come up for you, because if you have a question, you can be sure you are not the only one. I am looking forward to some good dialogue with new friends!
