Eckhart Tolle said that Tai Chi, Qigong, Yoga and meditative arts will be at the heart of a global awakening. You are invited to be part of a global evolutionary movement next month.
On the last Saturday of April each year, April 26th, 2014, the world will breathe together. The motto of this global event is “One World … One Breath.”
In over 80 nations mass mind-body events will be held to focus global attention on personal and global health and healing. The event is World Healing Day, which was born out of World Tai Chi Day and World Qigong Day events that captured the world’s imagination, and then expanded to a sisterhood of mind-body events all held on the same day, including: World Yoga Day, World Reiki Day, World Healing Meditation Day, and more. See www.WorldHealingDay.org and www.WorldTaiChiDay.org.
For 15 years this unprecedented event has wrapped the planet in a wave of healing Qi or Prana, and has educated millions about the healing benefits of mind-body techniques. However, it may be contributing to something even larger and more profound.
Emerging neurological research is showing that meditation increases the empathy/compassion parts of the brain, and shrinks the fear/stress part of the brain. It also lowers activity in the prejudicial part of the brain, causing meditators to be open to new information without rejecting it with prejudice. Meditation also enhances mental acuity and multidimensional thought, termed gamma wave thinking, whereby any thought is considered in multiple parts of the brain, seeing things from many angles, rather than in a narrow minded way.
What is fascinating and profoundly exciting is that sociological data shows that the earth is less violent today than at any time in human history. This data is presented by Harvard psychology researcher, Steven Pinker, in his profound book, “Better Angels of Our Nature.” Yes, I know this may sound unbelievable, but Pinker makes an air tight case that this is true. In fact, violent crime statistics in America support his point, as violent crime has been dropping dramatically in American for over two decades.
The reason it is so hard to believe the planet is growing less violent, is because we see the world through television news cameras, and in the news business, “If it bleeds, it leads.” Good news, is often no news in the eyes of a media that titillates and frightens to surge viewership.
But why is the world becoming less violent. Pinker makes many strong reasons that it is happening, without claiming any particular one is completely the cause. But it may be because the human mind is evolving at an accelerated rate. How is that happening?
ABC World News reported that 40% of Americans have turned to alternative medicine, particularly meditation.
For the last 15 years World Healing Day and World Tai Chi and Qigong Day have evidenced that this mind-body revolution is not just happening in America but worldwide across most of the planet. During these years 22 US governors officially proclaimed World Tai Chi Day, and the senates of New York, California, and Puerto Rico as well, and also Brazil’s National Council of Deputies officially recognized World Tai Chi Day for Brazil in 2013, joining other official bodies worldwide.
For this years 2014 World Tai Chi Day – World Healing Day, Sports England the national fitness organization is considering holding hundreds of World Tai Chi Day events in parks all across the United Kingdom as part of this global happening, including events in over 50 parks in Birmingham, England alone.
Last year BBC Television reported how World Tai Chi Day events had swept across Latin America, showing mass events in Brazil, Argentina, Cuba, etc.
If neurological research proves that meditation and mind-body arts make the human brain function in a more empathetic and compassionate way, and hundreds of millions of people are now turning to these technologies, often prescribed meditation by their physicians for health reasons, then we are seeing an evolutionary leap in human consciousness. Hundreds of millions of people worldwide are enlarging the empathy/compassion parts of their brains, while shrinking the fear/stress parts.
50,000 years ago, paleoanthropologists discovered what they called the Great Leap Forward, when suddenly humans all over the planet suddenly advanced their arts, architecture, hunting and farming skills in a dramatic way.
Everything in the modern world begins in the human consciousness. A shift in consciousness in hundreds of millions of people, and growing exponentially year after year as science proves more and more benefits from meditation arts, will result in an advance in humanity that will rival and perhaps exceed the impact of Renaissance, the Age of Reason, the Industrial Revolution, and the Dawn of the Nuclear Age.
World Healing Day’s World Tai Chi Day, World Qigong Day, World Yoga Day, World Reiki Day, and other healing modalities celebrated all on the same day, the same 24 hour period, on the last Saturday of April will contribute to this evolutionary shift in humanity by bringing human consciousness en masse to a focused intent on personal and global health and healing.
Meditation research has shown that when a small percentage of a population raises the vibratory rate of their consciousness in meditation it positively effects the entire population. The Global Consciousness Project, born out of research at Princeton University, found that when the global attention is focused it actually physically effects their computer sensors worldwide. This was measured in tragic events such as Princess Diana’s death, and the events of 9/11/2001.
What if human consciousness were focused en masse
for a 24 hour-period, not on fear and desperation, but
on an intention for personal and global healing?

A reflection of how successful the invasion of [of tai chi] has been is World Tai Chi Day, organized by Bill Douglas. One of the purposes of this day is "to bring people across racial, economic, religious, and geo-political boundaries, to join together for the purpose of health and healing, providing an example to the world." Millions of people around the world—65 nations participated in 2011—gather one day each year to celebrate the health and healing benefits of Tai Chi and Qigong.
