A New Pope, St Patrick's Day and Spring- a Time of Reassessment

It is Saint Patrick’s Day- a special day for the world because today everyone is Irish. As someone who also lives on Cape Cod, Massachussets, I can tell you that St. Patrick’s Day lasts all week…and in the south of Boston, home of the Irish, the “Southys” celebrate all month.

We’ve all heard about the luck of the Irish and I do indeed feel lucky today to have Suzanne Strisower as my gust blogger.  Her insights into world events, the current holiday, the coming of Spring and cleaning out your closets-of-life will leave you hunting for your four leaf clover, and plenty of inner-space in which to store it. Keep the luck of today  increasing by sharing these insightful words throughout the month and beyond.

It’s amazing to think that we would have a new pope and that he is to be called Pope Francis. His chosen name has been likened to St. Francis of Assisi who loved animals and practiced in a humble village. It will be interesting to see how this pope takes on his duties and how he views his life under this name going forward.

With the coming of spring and the proverbial “cleaning out of our closets,” this is a great time for each of us to reassessment our lives, too. What things need cleaning from the closets of your life? Imagine taking on a new role, like the Pope has, and having to step up…What would you be “stepping up-to?” This perspective gives you clarity about what clutter can be let go as you enter into spring.

Today is St. Patrick’s Day which has ancient roots in the number 3 and the cycles – birth, life and death, and many other symbolisms of the continuum of life. One of my favorite aspects of St. Patrick’s Day is the clover, which I have loved since I was a child. I loved finding myself in a patch of clover and searching for the elusive four-leafed lucky-charm which symbolized good fortune. Remarkably, throughout my life I have actually found several of these reclusive four-leafed legends and every time I have made a wish.

Each time that wish led me into something of my heart’s desire and a time of reassessment into my new purpose and life. I hope that each of you has the time to stop on St. Patrick’s to smell the roses, pick the clovers and reassess your life just as Pope Francis is doing in the Vatican.

Suzanne’s thoughts on reassigning our lives during this profound change in the Catholic Church, St. Patrick’s Day and all the days of the year that follow bring us to the theme of Life Purpose and Life Destiny. Pope Francis is fulfilling his Life Purpose by becoming the first third-world pope in the history of the Catholic Church. The path, or Life Destiny, on which he has chosen to fulfill his purpose is that of the Pope of the Catholic Church. He is the most powerful man in Christendom who also has rare Vatican citizenship. Pope Francis may have dual citizenship the rest of the year... but not today.

Today the Argentinian Bishop turned Pope is Irish! “Erin go brach” Your Holiness.
