Blessed Baisakhi! What does that mean? It is the greeting for the Sikh Holy day where Guru Gobind Singh freaked a lot of people out by asking them to give their heads literally to him, to create a new nation and a new consciousness. Let’s just say many people fled and some really heard the call. They were ready to do whatever it took to serve. The story is five people came forth and it appeared he cut their heads off one by one. Each time he reappeared with a bloody sword and asking calmly for another head. When he got to five (the majic number), he did something remarkable. He rebirthed them on the spot and brought them out dressed very regally with turbans, beautiful clothes, and swords of their own. He took lower class people and broke class barriers by dressing them as the kings of the time. He gave them a sword to defend only never attack. Guru Gobind Singh so respected the sword that he called the sword the same name as Princess Bhagauti. He wanted everyone to treat the sword with the same respect as you would a princess.

This story illustrates our pain bodies. The fuller your pain body is, the more reactive you are, and the less able to jump into life. The fuller your pain body is, the smaller your capacity to tolerate what you perceive as pain. The fuller your pain body, the more everything seems painful, and you physically, emotionally or spiritually retreat (or wish you could). Some of you carry around pain bodies that have been full your whole life, Some of you know how to clear your pain bodies, but like our physical bodies with toxins, the pain bodies fill up due to your limited interpretation of life. Some of you have had recent traumas and are working on releasing the perceived pain. Your pain bodies fill not due to what is happening to you, but due to your perception of what is or has happened to you. I am not saying this is wrong (It is an earth plane perception). I am just saying it does not serve your vastness. I have found breath meditations are wonderful for clearing out and releasing your diaphragm. One place your emotions store themselves is in your diaphragm.

One of my favorites is the 4-part inhale through the nose and 1 powerful exhale through the mouth. This is easy, powerful, and transformative. Do this for 3 minutes - 11 minutes and no more. This allows the release to be great. It allows your diaphragm to really be pumped out of the debris of the past. The emotions get locked in at the diaphragm, restricting your breathing. This keeps your perceptions and expressions small and seemingly safe.

Tis the time to empty the pain body and say yes to giving trust to your head and heart. You must have trust to give your head and your heart to someone, to a cause, or to a way of life. Trust does not reside with pain. Pain keeps reminding you that it is not safe. Trust is not invested in safety. Trust is invested in the vastness of connection. I love this chant to bring that vastness into you after the breath clears. Wa hey Guru Wa hey Guru Wa hey Wa hey Wa hey Guru. This 8 beat mantra creates the vastness of infinity and the ecstasy and joy of the now that is your true birthright. Try it. See what it can do for you to remove the pain of the past and give you God eyes to see beyond your perceived pain into the gift encoded in this moment of love. All that this sacrifice requires is that you say Yes, Yes, and Yes. It may cost you your life, but not saying yes will cost you everything.

Sometimes afraid of reunion
sometimes of separation
You and I, so fond of the notion
of you and I
should live as though
we have never heard those words.

Your perception of separation causes the pain. Embrace the perception that there is no such game.
