“Awakening your purpose takes the same practice, persistence and patience as developing any new habit. Awakening is a process towards self-discovery that we are so much more than we perceive to be.” -Marc Lainhart
TIPS FOR AWAKENING – PART I
Believe It! See It! Achieve It! – You Do Matter!
The truth that we must all reconcile in that we are an integral part of the living, breathing, symbiotic and complex system we call earth. By being part of such a system, each and every thought, word, and action we take has a positive or negative infinite impact on our world. Many want to “see it” first before taking action or believing in something without the thought that everything begins with a thought! Everything is born twice, first in our minds and then into our reality. Our thoughts become our words, our words become our actions, and our actions become our behavior and habits.
Just as the weather is a product of the complex interactions of 5 billion tons of water vapor and air whipping around in our atmosphere, so too does the human experience and consciousness of the world result from the billions of interactions in thoughts, energy, frequency and vibration taking place every second of the day. The key and prerequisite to awakening your purpose is to believe that you do matter, right now in the present moment. When we believe in the power of thought and mindfulness, we start to see opportunities and changes which allow us to achieve what our original thoughts were in the first place. Just as the past and the future do not exist, it is our thoughts on memories that make the past real for us and our imagination that makes the future real, but they are not, only our thoughts in which we believe in makes them real. Every time we have a doubting thought arises in our mind, simply say the mantra “I am present, I matter, I am.”
Get Your Butt Outside!
There is healing, energy, spirit and magic in the great outdoors! Most of us do not take the time to disconnect so that we may make time to reconnect to our first home and greatest teacher, nature. We are not truly connected to the world (or to ourselves) so make time to “get out” and reestablish the vital link with nature and with ourselves. Even in the larger cities with all of its concrete and traffic, we can still find trees to touch, parks to sit in, plant a garden and watch it grow and produce or simple sit and admire the flowers or do a little “people watching!” Disconnecting means just that, so put away the phone, move away from other people and surrender to the peace and solitude that being in the outdoors has to offer, we may just realize it is one of the easiest, cheapest and healthiest things we can do for our health and awakening process. Focus More on Others – “Selfless”
The biggest mistake we see in people and their journey is when folks are trying to awaken their purpose by focusing only on themselves. By helping, assisting, nurturing and being in service to other people every day by being “Selfless” can really transform our lives, because if it wasn’t for other people, we would have no real purpose or reason for existing at all. Psychologists refer to this subject and focus on the well-being of others as the “Greater Good Motivator” which measures life satisfaction in different ways to be happy through pleasure, through life engagement, through life meaning, along with research in empathy, compassion, gratitude, mindfulness and having an “attitude for gratitude.” Research conducted over the past three decades found that gratitude and focusing on others is not just a pleasant, passive emotion but rather an activating, energizing force that may lead us to pursue our goals, become well through self-improvement, more socially engaged and positive with a sense of purpose and passion.
Try Something New Every Single Day - “Soul Adventures!”
What path are we on for the many roads of life? Is life just a 9 to 5 treadmill? Are we just meant to wake up, work, and then die? Many times we get so stuck in a routine, that we quickly overlook the opportunities, experiences and adventures that await us! Our lives to “awaken” on a daily basis and “find the magic in the moment” remembering that the word “L.I.F.E.” is an acronym for “Learn It From Experience.” Trying new things or having new experiences not only rewires the brain which many psychological studies have shown, it is also exciting physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually and can assist in breaking down boundaries and barriers that Homo sapiens can get into as “creatures of habit” in their natural environment. The studies have also shown that over time, humans actually start feeling more comfortable with new situations and taking risks that allow the brain to be more accepting and open to “taking leaps of faith” when opportunities and adventures arise by trying something new every day. When we “awake” in all aspects of our life and not just the physical body, we have 24-hours until a new day begins and the opportunity to “awake” all over again and do something new!
