The great war...your inner self and the ego.
The ego is one of the hardest parts of our being to be silenced. The ego is everything ingrained in our mind from birth to now. It is the programming of society, parents, family and other people. The main objective in finding ones self is to learn to silence the ego and hear the silence of the wisdom within ourselves.
This takes years of work, and I do mean work, for the ego will creep into the back recesses of our mind to be heard. It is a most stubborn creature created by man.
When one learns to silence the ego, the clear wisdom that comes from within may start as just a whisper, but as time passes, it becomes a friend to converse with. The ego is a strange creature. It will try and influence any and all things we do in our daily life.
But to learn silence and put the ego away then opens doors to our true self and who we really are and then and only then can we begin to fully trust our own thoughts and follow in our hearts the true path for ourselves.
Some may master this and for others it is a life long journey. But if you succeed then the world lays at your feet and you have found the total trust that has always been within.
The ego wants control and wants limitations. It is always associated with the head. When the ego becomes silenced we find the true nature of all questions come from the heart, as the head will lie, but the trust in your heart will never lie or lead you in the wrong direction.
The ego is quite a control freak, but then it has no clue as to the strength you also have in quieting the ego. For the silence helps you to choose the real answers to your questions and not what was force fed through the ego.
Any one who has had the experience of taming the ego, will find it is a very strong adversary, but the heart will always win, for the battle between heart and ego is lost the moment we become silent and embrace the wisdom imbued by our heart.
