We have heard the word alcoholic, describing people who are addicted to alcohol, and shopaholic, meaning people who are addicted to shopping. Can we not coin a word “breathaholic” so that we could be addicted to being in the company of our breath? Can we not learn to adore it, love it, and surf with it, give our whole mind to it, absorb it so that it intoxicates us with the heavenly peace and happiness that we so much strive to attain in life?
Why the breath? Breath is mystical. Breath is life. Breath is not only the bridge between body and mind, but also between the individual and the universal. It is our one stop solution for every misery and unhappiness in life. We may not observe that every inhalation is new, fresh life energy, and every exhalation is the release of all the negative emotions and clutters of body-mind. But if only we could love our breath as much as we crave many sense-appealing transient pleasures, we would be always in a state of happiness and health, love and compassion, harmony and peace.
In the rush of our lives we almost forget to breathe. Yes, we can breathe without thinking, but there is a qualitative difference between conscious breath and breathing by default. Know that at any point of time our happiness is just a breath away from us, in the deep mindful breath of gratitude and love for God.
God has given us the key to unravel the mystery of this mini-universe, our body-mind, and the bridge is prana, the life force that manifests in the gross form as breath. If we can focus on our breath and align with the universal rhythm, we can dance through the course of life and feel light and radiate the aura of love without any effort! Prana is the gateway to reach the core within; take deep, loving breaths welcoming all positive possibilities.
Whenever we are connected to our inner expansive energy field we are close to God, for God is inseparable from it. Breath is the tool that we have to work with to establish that connection. Deep breaths of joy and peace take us closer to God’s infinite space of love for each one of us. His love and guidance is always flowing....... are we paying attention?
It is only on the surface, at the periphery, that you see the world of randomness, but deep at the root, life is perfect harmony and balance. The Divine designer formed this unique creation with love and carefully joined all; nothing is separated from the other. The quantum level is where matter and energy dance with creativity, at the root of the tree of life. If we want to experience the oneness of this Divine Play, then we need to water the root of life. We can do that by the practice of deep observation of our physical sensations and rhythm of breath as the light of consciousness rewires our brain neurons to gift us health and inner wellness. When we are healthy in body and mind, life flows with its melody; that is peace. Let us not waste our time seeking tranquility and happiness outside of us; let us first find where we lost it, in our breath, and then all is well.
The tool is with us! We know it; it is our breath! Awareness of our breath!
Watch your breath. And ask a deeper question: who is breathing? Pause, and seek the answer as you surf your breath with complete surrender to its flow. Go beyond mind’s thoughts and just be. Let the universe speak to you, silence the chatter of your conditioned mind. Breathe peace to yourself and to the world.
Your breath is not just air that you are breathing unknowingly; it is your link to the cosmos. As you breathe with love, awareness and peace it connects you to the infinite source of love, awareness and peace that is the all-pervading reality of the cosmos. Breathe with love, breathe with awareness, breathe with peace and become a true peacemaker for this troubled world.
The more you forgive the more you love, the more you love the more your life thrives in God consciousness, for God forgives us every moment for all our ignorance, and loves us, uplifts us, embraces us, and breathes through us life of divine intoxication!
If we breathe God, breathe peace, breathe positive vibrations of healing, then we are co-creating a world within the world, an oasis of peace and harmony, for ourselves and for the universe.
