Spiritual evolution is the natural dismantling of physicality; to blur the boundaries between physical matter and spiritual energy. Or, better yet, to realize that there are no divisions in the first place. Your physical world (including your body) is the result of spiritual energy (your Soul) solidifying portions of itself into a physical experience. The totality of who you are surpasses the parameters of your physical self. And, as you rely less upon your five senses this becomes more obvious to you. If you look at the world through your "physical eyes" everything will appear solid and static. However, if you look at the world (including yourself) through "spiritual eyes" (your Soul) you will sense that there is more to you than what you see in the mirror every day. Your life will then take on a new experience.
To increase your ability to see through your spiritual eyes, here's a simple exercise that you can do. Start with a natural place like a park. Relax in the park, take a few simple breaths and as you look around say to yourself; right now divine creation is using my eyes to see its own creation. This exercise helps you to get out of your own way and tune into your divine nature. Another practice is to "bend" reality by using your imagination. For example, if you are looking at a tree, imagine the tree bending, twisting and stretching, or, imagine it disappearing and reappearing. If you're sitting at a table pretend in your mind that you can push your hand through the table. By "playing" with physical reality in this way, you will strengthen the feeling of being able to shift and change reality; therefore, increasing your confidence to make changes in your life, and, to reconnect to your spiritual power.
So, having said that, if for example, you are unhappy with your car, then imagine the car shaping and shifting into a new one. Or, if you are unhappy with your current job, then remold the physical reality to a newer and better job. Or, imagine your body shifting into one of better health and healing. See yourself from the position of personal power and know that you can make changes. Let your imagination play and allow your spiritual energy to activate the forces that actually does the work of remolding physical matter. To use your power is to first know that you have power. You cannot and will not use something you don't even know you have. And, such mental exercises can help you to not only access that power, but to set the intention to make changes in your life.
As your physical reality softens your pain and suffering softens to the same degree. The stronger your physicality feels, the stronger your suffering will feel. And, the weaker your physicality becomes, the weaker your suffering becomes. For example, many people struggle with their past, and yet, the past itself is not real anymore. It is only energy expressing itself as memory. You cannot grab an event from your past and put it down on a table. The past is no longer solid. It is now only thought form and nothing else. But, as we look to the past through the physical mind (or ego structure) we unconsciously give it a continued realism. However, when we look at our past through our spiritual eyes we will treat the past only as experiences and nothing more. The past begins to lose its solidity, permanency, realism and structure. The past starts to thin out over time, allowing you to let it go once and for all. This is not escapism, but rather, an awareness of your own consciousness.
As your physical world softens you will start to sense the creation energy that is within you. Your true nature is spirit and you are an extension and expression of THAT which creates all things in the universe. The physical world that you see and experience is the manifested form of divine energy. Even though your physical world may look and feel real (and to some extent it is real because the "experience" IS real) nevertheless, it is not the truth behind the scenes. No more than listening to a voice on the radio and thinking there is a person inside your radio. The real person is sitting in a radio booth miles away from where you are. The voice on the radio is only a representation (an echo) of the real person's voice. Your physical reality is only an echo (a reflection) of your thoughts.
Very often most of our attention is on the physical self and the physical world. And, very little (or none at all) is spent on the Soul. And, yet, when more attention is placed upon your divine nature life becomes more sacred and timeless. Your Soul experiences a very different story than your physical body. You feel a broken heart and your Soul feels love. You feel fear and your Soul feels power. You feel worried and your Soul feels grace. You feel lost and your Soul already has the map.
So, remind yourself of the following: I can change my life. I am one with the divine energy of creation. I am constantly connected to the wisdom, strength, love and power of that divine energy. And, I am able to use that power to create my reality and achieve my desires.
