The subjects of creativity, the creative process, and the workings of the creative mind are often discussed and written about. How can we be more creative? Is creativity the same as productivity? Is creativity something we can develop, like a muscle? I'm not certain that any definitive answers have emerged about these subjects, but I have discovered some limiting beliefs about creativity that I would like to explore.
Where does Creative Inspiration come from?
Creative inspiration is often regarded as being subject to the whims of mysterious forces, and only available when the artist's 'muse' decides to pay a visit. In my experience, the stream of creative inspiration is always available to us -- we can choose (or not) to tap into that. This stream of inspiration is the same stream of Well-Being that flows to us from our Inner Being (or Source Energy -- the energy that creates worlds). When we tune ourselves and align with that energy, we have easy access to the stream -- we feel inspired, excited, passionate, and ideas flow.
Do you consider yourself a creative person?
Many people also believe that creative genius is only seen in musicians, artists, and writers. The truth is, everyone is creative -- we are all creating our lives, every single day (usually by default). We can choose, though, to create our lives in a more deliberate way, by choosing our thoughts and how we focus our attention. Choosing thoughts which feel good when we focus on them, helps us move toward what we want to experience (and move away from unwanted things).
What is the link between Happiness and Creativity?
Science has researched and investigated the psychology of creativity, and suggests that greater creativity breeds greater happiness. This is how most of us view life -- we believe that the creativity (or the situation) must come first, followed by the happiness. However, I believe the opposite is true - greater happiness gives us access to greater creativity. So, how do we get the happiness first?
How to tap into your Creative Juices...
As I suggested earlier, we can experience the happiness first by tuning ourselves to the energy of our Inner Being -- the ever-present source of pure, positive energy that resides in each of us. And we can do this, by deliberately choosing thoughts that feel good when we focus on them. We also need to have an awareness of our emotions -- our feelings, from moment-to-moment, give us exact guidance about that alignment with our Inner Being, and alignment always feels good.
When we practice deliberately focusing our attention in this way, we feel happiness more often in our daily experience -- we start to notice more good-feeling thoughts, and more good-feeling thoughts, and life gets better and better. When we are in this good-feeling place, we feel energized, excited, inspired, and...creative! All kinds of ideas become available to us, that weren't there before -- and it happens, because we first make deliberate choices about our thoughts.
Remember, we are all creative -- we each have access to the eternal stream of Well-Being and creativity -- and we can easily tap into that stream, by deliberately choosing our thoughts.
