Sensory Gardens

A garden is in the etymological sense, an enclosed area, outdoor room. Yet it is above all a place of escape, body and spirit, a place where our senses can regain sharpness too often set aside behind our modern displays.

In a therapeutic environment, whether in retirement homes or in support structures for the disabled, the garden makes sense. It enables communication between staff and patients, between different generations or social classes. The garden, enclosed area, is an opening, a health center where we share advice, enthusiasm for work and care for living things such as flowers, herbs, trees.
The hope of the 'fruits of labor' ... the satisfaction of harvesting, almost, his work, admire what is actually helped produce, all associated with a mild physical exertion that occurs unconsciously, are additional benefits to the pleasure of tasting the flesh warm and fragrant a tomato that is picked in the sun, smell of a tea of rosemary shared with friends, or to hear the crunch of an apple in the mouth of his little son to visit.
