The great Lao Tzu quote "If you correct your mind, the rest of you will fall into place" is wrapped in much wisdom of the ages.
What or who we identify with - we become. Whether we identify with the labels of mother/father, wife/husband, boss/employee, or any other label, we lose ourselves on a daily basis in this manner.
There comes a time in our life when an event happens that will stop us in our tracks. These events are not usually happy ones and can vary from one extreme to another.
Regardless, they cause us to stop the merry go round of life we have set ourselves upon and wonder - "Who am I?". This is a question obviously of a turning point in our life, one which if we choose to do so, will lead us down a path that will lead us home.
What has actually taken place is we have lost our self. The choices we have made has put us right here in this spot, right where we stand at this very moment.
Free will allows us to choose how, when, and where we spend our time. Time waits for no one and when the moment is gone, it can never be recaptured.
Choosing to live in the moment, rather than our non-existent past or future, allows us the freedom to "fall into place", the place of who we truly are meant to be, the place of unconditional love.
Unconditional love is infinite and without boundaries. Simply put, unconditional love is God, our Source, which is found within each one of us and everything in the entire Universe. This is our connection with who we truly are, this is our connection with each other.
This is the reason when one of us suffers, we all do. When we feel our heart hurting as we look upon someone who has been hurt, this is suffering. When we cry because someone shares a story of a broken heart, this is suffering.
We reach out to those who are hurting to let them know that God is not separate form any one, we are all one. We are God. As we reach out to one another, we are practicing compassion, which stems from love. Love is where we originated.
Considering ones self as God could be judged as blasphemy. But this is entirely dependent upon your belief system. It is a judgment of the ego.
When we were born, we knew who we were, there was nothing to worry about. We did not even know what the meaning of worry was, until our ego developed.
Most of us adapt a belief system when we are young according to what society teaches us. As we grow older, we begin to realize we are free to choose our beliefs. Next, as our realities began to change, we began the process of "falling into place".
How sad it is when we are out of balance and get so wrapped up in our labels, we actually miss something along the way. We miss a few moments of meditation/prayer, reaching out to others, telling someone "I love you", or just "being", perhaps even not noticing the smell of cut grass or a field of wild flowers.
When practicing living in the moment, peace is found because nothing else exist other than this particular moment. We find that our minds are no longer racing with thoughts about the past or the future.
As we go about our day, thoughts come and go. The problem begins when we allow ourselves to become attached to the ones which stem from the ego. When we allow ourselves to become attached to them, this is when we begin to lose our self.
One of the main reasons we allow our self to become lost is....FEAR.
Understanding this....becomes a simple truth
