Did you know that cancer cases are expected to surge 57% worldwide in the next 20 years, according to the World Health Organization?  The latest World Cancer Report says it is implausible to think we can treat our way out of the disease and that the focus must now be on preventing new cases. To do that we must look deeper …  we must look to the root cause.

We have reached a point in history where we can no longer deny the importance of the connection between emotions and illness. Cutting-edge scholars and medical doctors alike are acknowledging that dis-ease manifests first in the emotional field prior to becoming an actual physical ailment. Dr. Mercola tells us, “you cannot divorce your health from your emotions. Every feeling you have affects some part of your body.”  Louise Hay tells us in her book, You Can Heal Your Life, “To heal the physical we must first heal the emotions that created it.”

How it gets there is another story … every single experience we encounter is forever recorded on our subconscious mind, so all of our experiences, both good and bad are imprinted in our subconscious which is directly connected to the central nervous system and in turn our immune system. Painful life experiences often create emotional unrest or trauma. Left unresolved these traumas will imprint on a cellular level and even alter DNA... and in turn create disease.

Glenn Russel on his cutting edge website alternative-cancer-care.com tells us, “Over the past decades, a number of licensed medical practitioners working in the field of oncology have discovered cancer is preceded by a specific emotional trauma, occurring approximately 2 years prior to the diagnosis of cancer.” Dr Ryke Geerd Hamer proposes that each cancer in the body has a different emotional cause, which he has identified; in other words the emotional cause for cancer of the breast is different to that of cancer of the colon, lung, etc. For example, it is said that a woman presenting with cancer of the left breast has experienced a psychological and emotional conflict / trauma approximately 2 years prior to the diagnosis of cancer involving the “mother, child or home”.  On a personal level, my own mother found out that she was nearly born out of wedlock approximately two years prior to her diagnosis. This news had been exceptionally devastating to her. And yes, her primary cancer was that of the left breast … a definitive conflict with her mom who had never told her, leaving her feel unwanted.

Thus the reason it is so vitally important to address our emotional wounds … to really take a look at any emotional baggage we are still carrying and find a way to alleviate it, to clear it, to rid it from your hearts and souls. The modalities you can use to achieve these results are endless. There’s EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), Breathwork, SRT (Spiritual Response Therapy), SCIO (a relaxation and biofeedback therapy), PSE (Psychosomatic Energetics), Conscious Alchemy Quantum Healing™ (identifies unsupportive beliefs and clears them instantly), and Spiritual Life Coaching (limited belief clearing, forgiveness work, consciousness raising), just to name a few.

The impact of the arts in the process of healing is vital as well. It was recognized early on by Hippocrates, who understood the importance of uplifting his patients' spirits.  Over the past 10 years, there has been a dramatic growth in the use of the arts in medicine. Renowned institutions such as Duke University Medical Center and Dartmouth Medical School are doing research on the subject of art as a healing tool.  In fact recent scientific studies show us that art heals by changing both a person's physiology and their emotional attitude. According to the Art As A Healing Force organization, when a person experiences art, “The body's physiology changes from one of stress to one of deep relaxation, from one of fear to one of creativity and inspiration. Art and music put a person in a different brain wave pattern; art and music affect a person's autonomic nervous system, their hormonal balance, and their brain neurotransmitters.”

Peter Canova, Researcher/Author/Educator tells us, “No work of art can be personally transformative unless it engages both the heart and the mind of the viewer … To be touched intellectually is to be affected … To be touched emotionally is to be moved … To be touched by both is to be raised to a new perception of being.” This is the type of art will heal at a deep emotional level.

Angelic Message Portraits™ are an excellent example of this healing art form. Not only do they work with people to heal them emotionally, and in turn keeping them healthy, they also help raise one’s vibrational frequency … higher frequencies equate to healthier emotions and in turn healthier bodies. These portraits are designed to work with you at a heart level, enabling you to assimilate that knowledge directly into your emotional field, bypassing the cognitive mind, and enabling you instant access to it, without the need for total intellectual comprehension … a true gift from God.

Over the last ten years I’ve created hundreds of Angelic Message Portraits™ for clients around the world. Every now and then I have an opportunity to create one for someone I know. It is in these cases that I often get to see the true impact of this art, as I generally am then privy to the outcome that occurs down the line. In 2006 I had an opportunity to do just that. I created the Healthy Living Angel for a very dear friend of mine who was a holistic practitioner. The story of this angel reveals much.

The question that was asked was, “what did he need to know to have a successful holistic medical practice.” I always thought this piece of art had a strange flair to it for this type of business.  In my naivety I thought it just didn’t fit… But oh how right those angels were.  Notice if you will the intensity of the heart and the energy coming out of it … Look closely and perhaps you will see the faint outline of a head.  In retrospect their message was so profound it brings tears to my eyes …

You see, my friend and I had an ongoing debate about the importance the emotions play on our physical wellbeing. While he acknowledged this was important, it was not where he focused the majority of his work. Several years later my dear friend, who had not just one, but two PhDs, contracted a brain tumor.  He lived in his head. The angels … and I … were trying to tell him, both verbally and through the art, the success of a holistic medical practice was to focus more on the “heart of the matter”.  In other words, they were saying to look beyond the physical symptoms, to the emotional components/conflicts that created them … to treat the root cause, not the symptoms.
