“Imagine a world where the trapped emotions, fears, anxieties and unprocessed life experiences we hold in our bodies are the source of everything that ails us. That’s the world we live in. Now imagine a world where everyone is manifesting from their heart the perfect creation that’s inside each of us. Imagine a world where abundance, inner peace, longevity and loving relationships abound. Imagine emotion experts from around the world sharing their wisdom and negative emotion clearing techniques to light a new pathway for humanity. Imagine we are sacred, spiritual beings here for a much larger reason, serving a much higher purpose, a divine purpose. That’s where we’re going…”
– from the documentary E-Motion
At one time or another, nearly every practitioner I know – from chiropractors to energy workers to massage therapists – has had the experience of provoking an unexpected emotional release in a patient. Doctors and body workers are aware of this because often a simple touch can bring out a flood of emotions and memories in a patient.
In decades of private practice and in teaching around the world, I have found that 90 percent of all the pain we experience is due to trapped emotions – emotional baggage from our divorce, from our abuse as a child, or other traumatic or difficult experiences. Those energies stay with us and disrupt our lives. They cause our diseases and much of our self sabotage. Releasing them can result in profound and immediate healing.
The effect of trapped emotions on our health, I believe, is the elephant in the living room of Western medicine that we have been missing completely. But today, awareness is growing about the effects of these damaging emotional energies. From practitioners of various forms of energy medicine to quantum physicists and neuroscientists on the cutting edge of their fields, leaders are recognizing the roll emotions play in shaping our health and well-being.
As a result, we are poised to begin what I believe may be the greatest healing revolution the world has ever known, all around the healing power that comes from letting go of emotional baggage.
The path to healing from the effects of trapped emotions is explored in E-Motion (http://www.e-motionthemovie.com/), a new documentary about emotional healing from the vantage point of some of the world's leading authorities on holistic health. I am privileged to be among those featured in the film, produced by Justin Lyons and directed by Frazer Bailey.
Justin is an Australian filmmaker known for his work with Steve Irwin, The Crocodile Hunter. He was a teenager when he began work as a cameraman on The Crocodile Hunter, and he worked on every episode of the show from the first to the last. He was behind the camera when Irwin was fatally stabbed in the heart by a stingray while filming an underwater documentary in 2006.
“It was very difficult – when something so traumatic like that happens, you reassess everything,” he says, recalling the incident in a TV interview. “I was swimming over the top of that stingray as much as he was. I was interacting with that stingray just as much as he was, so it could have just as easily been me.”
“When I called my wife and told her what had happened, I thought, well, you have to stand back and look at the bigger picture: Steve is gone now. It could have been me. I could have left a widowed wife. I sort of reevaluated what is important to me. You look at your loved ones and you look at your life and you say, what is really important to me?”
Driven by his own need for healing, Justin began working on E-Motion to document how people heal from the physical, emotional and mental effects of trauma. I met Justin through Frazer Bailey, the film's director and another veteran of The Crocodile Hunter. I shared with Justin The Emotion Code, the healing process I created and have been teaching to practitioners around the world since 1998.
The Emotion Code is a simple yet powerfully effective method anyone can learn to release the trapped emotions that block mental, emotional and physical healing. E-Motion explores The Emotion Code and other modalities that deal with energy healing and the emotions that can become trapped in our bodies, leading to all kinds of illness.
“Sometimes these emotions can get trapped in anatomical parts of our bodies, and they are the root cause of everything that actually ails us,” Justin says. “What invariably happens is we react in the present moment like an emotion from our past is going on right now. And so we are reactive; our perception of the world is clouded by these emotional memories.”
Justin says The Emotion Code “has helped me deal with my emotions (surrounding Irwin's death) and that has been part of the journey of making this documentary.”
Energy healing is one of the oldest practices known in the world today. Since 4000 B.C., healers have understood that our health greatly depends on the quality of energy that flows through and makes up our bodies. In Chinese medicine, that energy is called “Qi” or “Chi.” In Ancient Indian or Ayurvedic medicine, this energy is called “Prana.” Imbalances of this part of our existence may deeply affect our physical and mental health.
Today awareness is growing in Western culture and worldwide on the role of emotions in our health. Medical doctors, physicists and healing practitioners in many disciplines, and the new sciences of neuroplasticity and epigenetics, are exploring how our brains and our bodies heal themselves once we release emotional baggage. E-Motion features case studies of people healing from everything from depression to chronic fatigue to cancer.
The cutting edge experts interviewed in E-Motion conclude that releasing trapped emotions is essential. We must let go of the past, not only for individual healing but in order for humankind to reach a more peaceful, prosperous, joy-filled and creative existence.
Releasing trapped emotions will allow us to “move from the selfish states that are driven by the hormones of stress, to the selfless states where we really want to contribute... really want to make a difference,” says Dr. Joe Dispenza, a neuroscientist, lecturer and author featured in the film.
“Making an effort to really transform ourselves I think is the best way to begin to transform the world,” he says.
I believe learning to find and release trapped emotions is the key to creating a world where abundance, inner peace, longevity and loving relationships abound. It starts with each one of us. Are you ready to begin?
