Chayote has lots of health benefits! Chayote is a veggie that’s oblong, green or white in color, and grows in the tropics and can be found in markets all over the world now. It’s low in calories making it great for losing weight, full of copper, which is great for your thyroid, and zinc with is very important for a healthy immune system. Chayote contains lots of B vitamins too… especially B6 which is important for memory. Also contains Vitamin K for clotting and also preventing other diseases such as osteoporosis. Chayote contains potassium that helps lower your blood pressure and a good amount of Vitamin C that’s important for your immune system and for preventing cancer and it contains lots of great antioxidants… and it does have some Vitamin E too. Full of iron that’s important for red blood cell production, and Chayote can help prevent cardiovascular disease and strokes too! And it’s full of great fiber thus keeping you regular… and it’s fat and cholesterol free.
