It seems that most of our lives we relate to others in one of two ways; how we think others want us to be; or how we think we should be. On the surface, it appears much has been accomplished using this relationship model and most folks have simply accepted it as “the way things are.” However, if we look at “the way things are,” we can see, from the perspective of most people, a world full of Fear, Uncertainty, Chaos, Greed, Destruction…just to name a few. So many people are feeling hopeless, empty, depressed, anxious and generally dissatisfied with life as a whole.
And yet, always present within each and every human being is the small still voice inside that keeps us all going…the voice that says “there is another way.” Sure, most of us try to drown this voice out with all manner of distractions and addictions, because if we REALLY let our truth begin to speak through us, we might be rejected, ridiculed, belittled, or worse yet…things might…CHANGE.
It’s really quite funny, when you stop and think about it. I have this beautiful essence of truth inside of me and so do you…and yet, we are both afraid to show it because that opens us up to being rejected.
I have a secret to share with you about that self inside…that self inside does not feel rejected…ever. It is only our false sense of self that fears rejection. That self inside IS WHAT IT IS; defenseless and pure…it IS the love that we seek outside of ourselves. When we allow this essence to flow through and permeate our false sense of self, something really quite extraordinary happens….other people begin to do the same thing. In fact, I dare say, it is contagious!
Of course the very notion of having this sort of relationship with others agitates the false sense of self, and it begins to throw out all sorts of reasons why you shouldn’t do that, it’s not safe, you’ll be sorry, etc., etc. We have many false senses of self and they are all very tricky and convincing, which is actually a good thing. Why? Because once you are aware of the false sense of self and how it operates, you can easily identify your true self, the small, still voice that patiently waits below the surface of all the false voices…it never says ‘what if’, it doesn’t try to force anything to happen, it’s not concerned with having its own way, and it never judges anyone or anything, it simply is.
Now that a spark of awareness has ignited within, I invite you to practice with someone you know and trust.
As you become more comfortable being yourself with those you are closest to, you will begin to branch out and take THE ESSENCE OF YOU INTO ALL THAT YOU DO!
