There are a few things that anyone can do from a spiritual perspective to become inspired and live life fully alive. To wake up every morning and be happy and excited to be breathing another breath. To enjoy a sunrise, and to see the awe of the whole cosmos in a single little pebble. Everyone can do this— and here are a few ways to awaken and joy within, no matter what the circumstances.
Be Wild and Crazy, Be Different — Many of the great artists were not the average person, such as Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, Andy Whorhol, and even Ansel Adams. They were their own people, they all dressed differently (I just loved Andy Whorhol’s hair and the wild mustache of Salvador Dali), and some were a bit wild and crazy. But most importantly they were all very full of life, and enjoyed every second they were alive. If we all fit the cookie cutter mold of society we are doomed. It takes living outside the box to really be alive and see the world from a whole new perspective. Personally when I see a young people with spiked hair or blue hair or something else… I say to myself “cool” they are expressing who they are deep down inside. You are not going to get a second chance at doing this again, at least in this life time… so you might as well do it now.
Personally my wife has been part of theater for over 40 years. And because of that we know lots of very creative. People who live outside the box and are very alive and full of joy. Go out and be yourself no matter what that entails… you only live life once, and you came to share who you are from the perspective of your soul.
Do Something Different Everyday - We have set routines that we live everyday, we get up and wash our face, and go to the bathroom, and make breakfast and go to work. Routine is important, but at the same time it can create boredom, so go out and find something new and be different to do today. Even if it’s just visiting all the little shops in the village and not buying a single thing but doing something outside of our normal routine inspires.
Notice the Small Things - It’s so easy to get caught up in the drama of life and not see all the amazing things around us. That’s what happens when we are so busy that the world passes by and we don’t even know it. Go out into the yard and look down, then lay down on the grass and count the number of blades of grass that you see in one little area. Then notice the dew drops that holding onto some of those blades of grass. Most people miss all of this, most people don’t even know they exists. But there is a sense of joy that permeates every soul when they start to noticing all the simple little things in life. Talk to that blades of grass, talk to the dew drops, talk to the soil, see the power of divinity all around you… and know that you are part of something amazing, intricate, and full of joy.
Look Up, Look Down, Look All Around - Most of us live with blinders on most of the time. We are so focused on what we are doing that we miss out on 90% of what the world has to offer. Practice going outside or around the house and notice what you can seen in your peripheral vision. It’s a very interesting exercise to not focus on the center of things, but to focus on everything that’s going on in the outskirts of our life. Look down and you see a flower below you, look up and there are clouds, look beside you and there are trees. All of which are full of life, and waiting to be explored with our sense of touch, smell, sight, and even our hearing. Feel the bark on the tree, smell the flower, watch the clouds move, all of them are inspiring if we allow them to be inspiring.
Embrace Lots of People - Go out and share your life with lots of people. Life is not meant to be lived sitting in front of the TV set… go out and have dinner with friends. Or invite people over and just share a large bowl of soup and some bread. As my grandmother used to say: “Company is coming over, add some more water to the soup”. Life is not about sharing what we have, it’s sharing who we are deep down inside. Most people love the simplest ways of dining, and the simplest of foods. Most of all it’s about sharing conversation and being outside the box instead of holding up in the house afraid of living life.
But this means we have to go outside of our comfort zone… and that takes guts, determination, willpower, a positive attitude about everything, and a powerful belief in who we are. And every single one of us has all of these attributes, we are innately born with all of them. All these attributes were given to us as a birth, and all we have to do is practice, practice, and practice until we make them part of our life.
Let Go of the Should’s - And one more thing, let go of all the “Should’s” in life, there are no should’s there are only “Possibilities” so make your possibilities endless.
All of this is what being spiritually alive means, being fully present, being fully who you are deep down inside… and that translates to being inspired about being alive every single day!
Many Blessings to Everyone
