We all have heard that being in the moment is a good thing. Is it really practical to be in the moment all the time? What are the side effects of being in the moment all the time?
Let’s look at a situation where people are in the moment, unconsciously. People with Dementia/Alzheimer’s can experience being in the moment a lot. If you have interacted with people with such symptoms, you may have experienced some of the benefits of being in the moment: forgetting about the past and being able to appreciate a beautiful flower ten times in an hour!
In the Moment
I usually do not remember the past.
I am in the moment most of the time!
I hate dwelling on my unpleasant memories.
I look at and appreciate beautiful flowers
as if it was the first time I have seen them.
I ask the same question over and over with same curiosity
as if I have asked the question for the first time.
I greet people with enthusiasm as if I have not seen them for years.
I laugh loudly at jokes as if it was the first time I heard the joke.
I do not have a short term memory.
I am in the moment!
I do not have much long term memory.
I am in the moment!
I get scared when I do not have a memory of me.
Who am I?
Where am I?
Why am I here?
Who are my friends?
They tell me I have Dementia/Alzheimer’s.
I am in the moment!
Do you want to be in the moment with me?
