Lilith part I By Elohim Yael

The Lilith archetype is about the untamed wife. In several traditions she symbolizes sensual desire and fury. It seems something about our (inner) feminine aspects is inconvenient and needs to be tamed. That is, according to the patriarchal tradition. This repression led to an inner battle of the feminine and imbalance with the masculine. As Lilith is connected to this, she is essential in rebalancing the masculine and (inner) feminine. She shows us several keys how to harmonize the disbalance. Which keys will be explained in this sequence about the Feminine and the return of the Sacred Wisdom of Creation.

Lilith repressed

In the Sumerian time Lilith was linked to rituals in temples, called ‘ritual prostitution’. In Babylonian and Jewish-Christian mythology she is depicted as a night monster, storm demon or goddess of wrath. However Lilith - in balance - is in fact an independent power of creation that is capable of delimitation and deep surrender. Her energy is strong, full of fire, sensuality and independence. As a result of feeling obligated towards the masculine her power was hidden away for quite a while within the feminine and Fell into Shadow.

Being banished into Shadow’ Lilith started wandering.

It disrupted the balance.  Had the masculine and feminine ‘counterparts’ been two equal components, unbalance took place. Once a harmonic unity continued in disharmony and the ambiguity of good and bad, conscious and unconscious, visible and non-visible … Following time the ability to understand another and to get closer became tougher. Slowly the masculine took over, as our patriarchal traditions and current mechanical systems witness.

The masculine deifying the self

The resulting gap between the masculine and feminine originated from one of the foundations of the experience of duality : putting the (own) style on a pedestal. Therefore creating segregation as the own style was placed above all other styles, the own race or color before others, the ego-part of the self above the rest, appearance above inner world, …  and meanwhile a sort of interdependence took place.

This ‘worship’ of  style led to focus on the shape and its tangibility. This masculine style of creation includes structure, fixation, differentiation, domination and control and has organic, mobility, connection, inspiration, creativity and natural as feminine ‘counterpart’.

The feminine retreating and escaping reality

A part of the feminine chose to support the masculine style of creation, the manifestation of ego and its adoration. At the same time this led to the retreat of the feminine to the comfort zone of no shape at all. The side that decides to keep peace, to subordinate oneself, to leaving oneself out of account, and that adjusted to the ‘role of mother and wife’. This going along with all sides, indicates this part of the feminine did not take responsibility for her own choices and deep inside did not agree. It led to the existence of  scolding and therefore to denying her own responsibility for the removal with the masculine.

The other part, that Lilith represents, felt restrained in her freedom and felt forced into escaping reality. This escape of the cold harsh reality of ‘design’ and feasibility led to wandering. As a consequence the wholeness of the feminine was gone. The connection with both parts, the shared essence and destination (of unity) was lost; and the talents of each parts were desolated.

It resulted in an experience within the feminine of inner battle and duality; this battle furthermore has taken place within the masculine via fratricide, e.g. the stories of Osiris and Set, Cain and Abel, Enki and Enlil.

Lilith part I By Elohim Yael

Lilith, shadowing the Feminine dilemma

The Lilith archetype is about the untamed wife. In several traditions she symbolizes sensual desire and fury. It seems something about our (inner) feminine aspects is inconvenient and needs to be tamed. That is, according to the patriarchal tradition. This repression led to an inner battle of the feminine and imbalance with the masculine. As Lilith is connected to this, she is essential in rebalancing the masculine and (inner) feminine. Hi Regina, thanks for indicating some sentences could use a bit more clarification to make it more comprehensive. Your input does help to finetune with your readers for future articles :-)

I adjusted the two pieces/sentences you recommended and assume they are now easier to follow. Should you still feel it needs more explanation, I will see your reaction.

Warm regards, Yael

Hi Yael,

Sorry for the delay getting back to you. Thank you so much for submitting this series of articles on Lilith, I am really excited to read them myself as I'm a fan of Lilith in astrology =)

For the most part the article is great, though there are two short passages that I find to be a bit confusing. I thought we might rephrase these two sentences to clarify the meaning:

The first section (highlighted in bold):

"The resulting gap between the masculine and feminine originated from one of the foundations of the experience of duality : putting the ‘form’ or style, on a pedestal; the own style - form, shape, race, color - was placed above others. Oneself and its ego-part were put above the other(s), appearance above the inner world, … and meanwhile a sort of interdependence took place."

Forgive me but I read this several times and can't quite wrap my head around the variables mentioned and how they relate to each other: the own style vs others (other's styles?), oneself (is that the same as own style?) and the ego part, etc. Most of our readers are on their phones with plenty of distractions around them and I'd prefer to simplify the piece to help them out =)

In the next paragraph, its the bit in bold that I'm stuck with:

"A part of the feminine chose to support the masculine style of creation, the manifestation of ego and its adoration. At the same time this led to the retreat of the feminine to the comfort zone of no shape at all. A zone that went along with all sides, the side that decides to keep the peace, to subordinate oneself, to leaving oneself out of account, and that adjusted to the ‘role of mother and wife’. With this retreat, it implicitly indicated to be unwilling to surrender to the choice made. Deep inside it led to the existence of scolding and also led to denying her own responsibility for the removal with the masculine."

I guess my question here is how did the feminine "implicitly indicate" to be unwilling to surrender to the choice made? Those two words together don't entirely make sense to me and I'm having trouble seeing how that statement is or could be implied by what came before it.

Thanks again for submitting these lovely pieces.  I'll have a look at the other articles and will leave any comments there too. Please send me a message when this has been addressed.

Blessings!

Regina

Hi Yael - Thank you for this!

I will keep an eye out for your articles =) If you would like to number them so that we know which to publish first that would help, and I will make sure that subsequent articles include links to the ones that came before them on the omtimes.com website

Would you mind deleting the first one that you had posted (the one that is still at 1000+ words), that or revising it so that it reflects one of the themes mentioned below?

Thanks!

Regina
