LIVING INTUITIVELY: Making Sense of Intuitive Seeing

Abstract: We are all intuitive. The trick is learning how each of our unique intuitive abilities work. In this 4-part series, I’ll discuss the four main intuitive skills—seeing, hearing, knowing, and feeling—and include tips and stories about how to recognize and use them every day.

We are all intuitive, no if’s, and’s, or but’s. The problem is figuring out how our own intuitive senses work and then consciously using them until they become second nature—just like our physical senses are.

While our intuitive senses include seeing, hearing, feeling, knowing, tasting, smelling, and even coercion, in this four-part series I’ll focus on the four main ones: seeing, hearing, feeling, and knowing.

Clairvoyance: Intuitive Seeing

The intuitive ability of “seeing” is called clairvoyance. The person who is clairvoyant can see things that other people do not, including the dead, nonphysical beings, and auras, the colored etheric body that surrounds all beings.

Clairvoyance also includes a heightened visual perception, often involving color; for example, artists in particular may notice sharper colors or even see energy fields (auras) around people and other beings, including animals and trees. This heightened perception provides information that helps distinguish mood and behavior, and offer a heads-up on upcoming issues, including wellness.

How this works depends on how clairvoyants develop their skills, especially learning how symbology works for them. That means learning what colors and objects signify, which is unique to the individual, and not the standard interpretation.

For example, consider roses. Traditionally red roses symbolize romantic love and devotion and white roses symbolize purity or innocence. However, using traditional symbology in clairvoyant interpretation could give the wrong information, especially if clairvoyance is the only intuitive sense being used.

I once worked with a client to talk with her deceased husband, and at one point he stood before her holding a large bouquet of red roses. Since I don’t work with symbols as a rule, I didn’t make an assumption. Instead, I told the wife what I was seeing and asked her what the red roses meant to her. She said it was their particular way of expressing their support for each other’s chosen work and a reminder of one thing they enjoyed: a red rose bush next to the front door. It reminded her that he would always be on her team.

Decidedly not the traditional interpretation of red roses, this example should remind you that if your intuitive strength is clairvoyance, you must sit down and keep a journal of what different items mean, from red roses to a cup of coffee to what a particular color means: does blue signify depression, the cheeriness of a sunny day, the calming influence of water, or something else? Over time, keeping a journal becomes moot, because clairvoyants will automatically translate what they see into useful information.

Colors are especially important if clairvoyants are pinpointing wellness issues in people or animals (or even gardens), especially if they are tuned into the colors of different chakras on the energy body: for example, the green of the heart chakra. Tuning into an individual’s energy body and seeing black or dulled colors where they were expecting yellow or red or green could prompt the clairvoyant medical intuitive to suggest an individual see a medical or psychological professional. In addition, a particular chakra or auric color can change even during the course of a busy day. Whether clairvoyants are working professionally or personally, understanding what these colors mean to them helps them stay balanced and grounded, body, mind, and spirit, which is why we have intuitive abilities in the first place.

Here’s a cute story that shows how the pictures clairvoyants see help them make decisions. I was once working with a client who needed help getting the weekly garbage cans down a long lane for pickup. I suggested to her quarter horse that he help by dragging the cans. Immediately a picture popped into my head: the horse stood facing me, glaring. He was wearing a ridiculous straw hat and had the horsey equivalent of rubber waders draped over his back. He was hitched up to a cart that held several garbage cans. He waited until I got a good look at his get-up then kicked the cans so hard they went sailing behind him. Nope, he wasn’t going to help with the garbage cans.

Finally, if you’re clairvoyant and would rather have a different intuitive ability, know that most people want the intuitive ability they don’t have. The good news is you can work on developing other intuitive abilities once you’ve mastered your strongest and have the confidence and expertise to experiment. Just don’t give up: mastering intuition is a skill set we’ve lost over the last few centuries, so it’s a process. As you play with it, you’ll find what works for you.
