Make your own herbal gift soap, it’s easy to do… and it takes only a few minutes.
And it’s always nice to receive something that someone made.
Glycerine Soap - 1 bar of glycerine soap… will make 1 bar of herbal soap.
2 Quart Sauce Pan - Use an inexpensive pan that you can use over and over again for this purpose.
Soap Mold - You can buy soap molds at any craft store… or you could make your own using wood. Or you can use an old 9x13 inch pan - you can put the melted soap into a old pan and let it all set up at one time… and then unmold all at once (It’s sometimes hard to get soap out of a pan, so try spraying the inside of the pan with very light coating of veggie oil… use as little as possible) then when totally setup and unmolded… cut the soap into pieces with a knife, this gives it nice artisan look.
Dried Herbs - You can add coarsely ground herbs to your soap… buy dried herbs locally or if you grow your own herbs that’s great too… perhaps lavender, sandalwood, chamomile, or any other herb that you like. Be inventive, you can add chocolate, chai tea, sea salt, and just ab out anything else to your soap.
Buy some glycerin soap, standard unscented soap… and use a grater and shred it into course pieces… or you could cut it into small bits with a knife.
If you want 4 bars of herbal soap, add 4 bars of grated glycerine soap to your sauce pan.
Then place over a double boiler until the soap melts completely… stir constantly.
Once the glycerine soap is melted add a teaspoon of coarsely ground herb per bar of soap, experiment with this, it depends on how potent the herb is… so adjust accordingly.
Pour the melted mixture into a soap mold, and let set for at least 30 minutes or you can place the molds in the refrigerator for a few minutes until they set up.
Unmold your soap… then let them set for another 2 or 3 days so they are totally hard.
Wrap individual bars of soap as gifts or make a gift boxes of 3 or 4 bars… that makes a wonderful gift!
(optional) you can carefully and slowly add a one or two drops of essential oil to your melted soap… for a wonderful scent.
