Have you ever heard the expression “pretty is as pretty does”? My mom used to tell me that until I thought I would scream, but, I get it now.
Just because it looks good at first blush does not always mean it is good for real. Have you ever met someone who was a beautiful person, physically, only to find that they didn't mind lying when it suited them? How do they look to you now? Or how about the handsome man or beautiful woman who takes your breath away until you see him/her cheating on his/her wife/husband? Or the house that appears to be your dream home that turns out to have toxic mold? The truth of the thing can as unlovely as the facade of it is beautiful.
Now here is the question, what is behind your outer beauty? How beautiful are you at your core? What are your core values? Have you decided where you draw the line and how you will live that decision?
How do you pass these values on to those who look to you for instruction? Do you even know who they are? You may be surprised who is watching and thinking they would like to emulate you?
Here is a quick quiz; the trick here is to be as honest as you can (no one is watching so let it all out)
If you found a wallet with $150 dollars in it. What would you do?
If the wallet had only $20, what would you do?
How about if you found a cheque book or credit card?
How would you handle wanting to purchase a gift for a special person and you had no funds?
If no one would EVER know, would you steal something you wanted?
If no one would EVER know, would you lie to get a job you wanted or to stay out of trouble?
If no one would EVER know would you swear an oath in a legally binding contract?
How about an oath in a morally binding one?
Would you leave the scene of an accident, either fatal or non?
Why does it matter? It matters because you matter. You matter because you are here to matter, if only to yourself. If no one will EVER know...you will ALWAYS know and that MATTERS. If you find yourself lacking here is the good news, it is never too late to change. Change your habits, your notions, your thoughts and perceptions. When you choose to make these types of changes is when your spirit begins to grow into the wonderful person you
are here to be.
To your highest good and best outcome, blessings, Chessie
