In Siddhartha, Hermann Hesse writes, “Within you there is a stillness and sanctuary to which you can retreat at any time and be yourself.” In this world of constant change and commitments to family and work, we tend to forget who “we” actually are.
Meditation is the key to going within. Behind the door—which by the way is not locked—is a healing space. This healing space holds emotions that have long ago been locked away. These emotions are buried right below the surface. These emotions are the present moment…the now. The challenge is to get below the surface and heal. Below the emotions and feel.
As you sit silently with yourself, you will begin to notice what is coming up. Take the time to sit with the guilt, denial, or shame, and do not turn away from it. It is a part of you. Shed the light on the darkness. As you look within, you need you. Within is the only direction right now. The peace that you are seeking is within you.
