We are approaching the Spring Equinox, which occurs this Friday, March 20th. I view these markers in our year as an invitation into the unfolding dance of my life.
These seasonal markers in our year offer a rite of passage into more light, life, and love.
Certainly the swift shifts in energy, paired with quickly changing circumstances in my own life, are highlighting that opportunity for me and so many others. In my own life, a zillion changes are zooming around, mixing it up for me. There was an unexpected death in the family, and I was unable to tmake the trip back across the ocean for the funeral. Travel plans for family visiting me fell through. Several projects I wanted to share with the world seemed to be at a standstill.
In the light of these changing conditions, the choice was mine. I asked myself how I might dance with my life and make the passage gracefully through the day. The answer came clear — live into it and trust the day.
So yesterday, on the day they buried my brother-in-law and on the day Ireland celebrates its patron saint and its national heritage with a national holiday and celebration, I hiked to the Carrowkeel Megalithic tombs not far from where I am living this year. On my hike, I considered this idea of passages.
We all long to express what’s most true and to make a difference in this world. If we are to come fully to our lives — come to LIFE and Live In Full Expression — we must begin within. We need to be willing to enter the chamber of our souls and undergo change.
As I was standing high in the Irish hills yesterday, I was considering the three passages we make as we are willing to do tap the streams of our soul and show up fully here and now, in this time, no matter the changes swirling around us.
The three passages include the passages from:
We begin with light — that One light that is our source and supply. Daring the inner journey, we awaken the world within and reconnect to our Essential Self and meet the wonder of who we are. This is the passae from darkness to light, illustrated for us with the Spring Equinox. It is a whole new way of seeing ourselves.
We then move into the flow of our life. But not just a complacent or reactive way of being. Rather, we find a whole new way of being ourselves and connect to life’s flow, moving always toward the life more abundant. We begin to understand the Essential Journey we have made, and everything opens up.
The third passage invites us to embrace a new vision for what’s possible and a whole new way of freeing ourselves. We connect to our Essential Truth and all that matters most, fine-tuning our way of moving through time and space, radiantly expanded from within.
What trips most of us up as we seek to make these passages into a life fully expressed is the little matter of time. It sneaks up on us. Or it feels as if we are caught up in it, subjected to its whimsy and utter unpredictability.
As I was exploring the passage tombs, I noticed there was a distinct feeling of sacred presence. Time was standing still, and I was expanded, taking in the sweep of the beautiful countryside and considering the people who had sought shelter from wolves in these rugged hills.
I thought of LIFEseeds #75, which invites us to Stand in Sacred Time. The corresponding text from Cultivating Essence, (the first book in the series is Awakening the World Within) is called “Time Passages” and says this about time:
There is the time you have known by the ticking of a clock, and there is another experience of time that is much different. You speak of time standing still. This is sacred time, a moment infused with the promise and fulfillment of a lifetime.
The truth is you have all the time you need. Not only is there no need for hurry; there is also no need to wait. The time is always now, and there is always time. And that time appears to meet your need. It also slips by if you choose not to live fully into it.
Redeem your ticket to ride, and take all the time you need.
The whole day at Carrowkeel was magical. Though I was alone, I was fully connected. I stood in sacred time, living fully into each step and each moment. There was no need to hurry, and no need to wait.
Take a moment today to be fully where you are as you are, knowing all is well as it is. Stand still and consider the passage you are making at this point of your life’s unfolding adventure.
As you make the passage into a new season in your life, open to the miracle of the moment and find yourself, whole and complete, standing in sacred time.
Here are some scenes from my day at Carrowkeel. I hope they inspire you to greet THIS day as an opportunity to step into more LIGHT, LIFE, and LOVE and cultivate YOU, so you might come fully to your life and live in full expression.
