The Benefits of Essential Oils During Meditation

Meditation is a healthy way to relieve stress, let go of the everyday worries and enhance the physical, mental, spiritual and emotional well-being. Essential oils can help with that. From helping those who have trouble falling into a meditative state to increased relaxation, these oils are a great benefit to meditation practices.

Meditation is a time of relaxation, reflection, and knowledge seeking that helps many individuals enhance their physical, spiritual and emotional state of well-being. While mediation practices alone can be very powerful, using essential oils can enrich the experience and allow participants to transition into deeper states with an accepting mindset. Here are a few benefits of including essential oils during meditation.

Essential Oils Promote Relaxation

Those who have trouble falling into a meditative state or struggle with distractions may find that adding an essential oil or two that promotes relaxation to be helpful. After all, unwinding is a primary goal of the practice, and tranquility is necessary in order to allow the mind to expand outside of the norm. Calming essential oils include lavender, Clary sage, Roman chamomile, neroli, cedarwood and bergamot.

Grounding Essential Oils

Meditation should be a grounding practice, which means that it allows the body to be ‘grounded’ to the earthly plane in order to safely allow the mind to ‘travel’ beyond this realm. Grounding the body is what allows the mind to return safely to its physical vessel at the conclusion of meditative states. Essential oils recommended for grounding include sandalwood, vetiver, patchouli, bergamot, frankincense and Palo Santo.

Clarity in mediation allows participants to ‘see’ and become open receivers for the information and answers that they are seeking. These may come as sudden insights, visions and some individuals even report ‘hearing’ knowledge being shared during meditation. Essential oils for mental clarity include rosemary, juniper berry, basil, peppermint, Clary sage and sage.

Essential Oils for Enlightenment

Enlightenment is often described as a state of omniscience or that of being fully aware of the culmination of mind, body and spirit. Considered the most divine of meditative states, essential oils to achieve this goal include helichrysum and frankincense.

Ways to Use Essential Oils for Meditation Enhancement

The most important thing to consider when buying your oils is to use high quality essential oils like those offered at doTERRA products. These oils can be safely used upon the skin and are superior for use in aromatherapy diffusers for meditation enhancement. If you have sensitivities to direct exposure or strong scents, you may opt to dilute your oils with a carrier to create a spray mist to use prior to application.

Hi, Harper. Thanks for your post. I am asking for a bit of a revision here.The article is very brief and needs more detail/information.  Article length should be between 500 and 800 words.
