The Health Benefits of Salak - A Wonderful Fruit from Indonesia

This strange looking fruit called Salak that comes from a particular palm tree that grows on the islands of Indonesia. Some call it the snake fruit because it has a skin that looks like snake skin.
But this sweet, crisp, and almost pineapple like flavored fruit... has many health benefits.

Salak or Snake Fruit contains lots of Beta-Carotene which is a powerful antioxidant and works well to prevent cardiovascular disease, strokes, and even cancer. Plus it contains 5 times more Beta-Carotene than that found in watermelon, mangos, and 3 times more than found in guava.

It also contains lots of beneficial tannins, Vitamin C which helps to prevent disease, and phytonutrients that create health and vitality. And if you are suffering from diarrhea then eating some Salak will do the trick and bring you back to health.

Salak also soothes away indigestion, excess acid, and stomach aches and helps prevent constipation too, but if you have ulcers the tannins may bother you so skip the Salak if you already have gastric ulcers. At the same time Salak is full of wonderful potassium that is important for cardiovascular health and water regulation. And it's called the "Memory Fruit" because helps to improve memory.

And because it's full of antioxidants it's jam packed full of great nutrients for the eyes, some call it the carrot juice of Indonesia... and it also contains polyphenol compounds just like green tea making it great for preventing cancer.

Salak has lots of fiber to give you that feel full and thus it helps with weight loss. And it contains lots of calcium for strong bones and it's full of lots of instant nutrition... and thus provides lots of stamina and long lasting energy.

If the leaves of the tree are made into tea with honey this astringent tea will helps with hemorrhoids. And the skin of the fruit made into a tea... has the ability to promote regeneration of cells and especially the cells of the pancreas, thus it can help with diabetes. And this tea also contains pterostilbene which is a powerful blood glucose lowering agent.

Salak Fruit is highly prized and sought after in the US, Europe, and Japan.

Salak makes a wonderful fruit cake... and you can use any standard fruit cake recipe and use salak in it... and it will taste great! And it can also be made into preserves, candy, and pickles.
