The Highly Nutritious Durian Fruit - The King of Fruits

Durian is one of those fruits that’s wonderful and has lots of health benefits and at the same time notorious for having a stinky smell... but a sweet creamy flavor that is great!

Durian Fruit grows in the tropics in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam, Brunel, Sri Lanka, New Guinea, Thailand, and other tropical countries and can grow over 12 inches long and longer and weigh at least 7 pounds. Durian is called “The King of Fruits” in many areas of the world. With a lush custard like filling that’s sweet that can be made into lots of different dishes. 

Durian Fruit contains a lot of protein... also lots of Vitamin C which is a powerful antioxidant, helping to remove free radicals and preventing cardiovascular disease, strokes, and cancer. It also contains all the B-Vitamins which is rare because most fruits only contain a few of them. Thus Durian if full of pantothenic acid, thiamin, niacin, riboflavin, and pyridoxine which are important antioxidants and help keep the body vital, strong, and help with depression, healthy gums, getting rid of migraines, anemia, and helps with digestion. 

At the same time Durian Fruit contains lots of trace minerals such as copper and iron for building hemoglobin and red blood cells, and manganeses which is a very important antioxidant that helps to ward off disease. Phosphorus for strong bones (10 times more than that found in Plantains and Bananas) Plus it also contains magnesium which is important for cardiovascular health and for regulating blood sugar. And potassium which is important for water regulation - which is great for swelling and for regulating heart rate and lowering blood pressure. It also contains tryptophan which like turkey on Thanksgiving helps you sleep... and it also helps with mood enhancement, anxiety, and boosts serotonin in the brain. 

Durian is a good anti-inflammatory agent containing organosulfur which works to prevent inflammation and thus disease such as cardiovascular disease, arthritis, strokes and more. Also contains beta-carotene which is a very important antioxidant helping with stress, disease, cardiovascular health and slowing the aging process. 

Durian Fruit is full of fiber that helps with constipation and provides nutrients for probiotic bacteria and at the same time prevents colon cancer and inflammation. It also contains lots of simple sugars that give quick energy and good fats, and cholesterol and saturated fat free and eating the fruit can lower cholesterol. 

The roots of the tree work well for finger nail infections and swelling... and some say the fruit works well as a good libido boosting agent. And the leaves when made into a tea are great for fevers. And if you are prone to being cold all the time Durian Fruit will nourish you and change your condition so you feel warm, some recommend making a soup of Durian Fruit outer shell and bones for turning up your internal thermostat. And Durian Fruit also helps those suffering from dysmenorrhea... and research shows that eating Durian Fruit can help with thrush. 

Durian Fruit can be made into ice cream, candy, baked into biscuits, made into high protein chips, made into milk shakes, rice dishes, yule logs, even cappuccino and other sweet drinks and treats. Plus the seeds can be cooked (must be cooked and processed) and made into flour that is high in carbs, good fats, protein, B and C vitamins and lots of trace minerals, and phytosterols that are important for lowering cholesterol and for cardiovascular health... and the flour can be used just like any other flour for baking.
