Often we attract the very opposite of what we want. Instead of attracting more money, love, and health, we attract loss, pain, and suffering. The reason why we attract the opposite of what we want is because of the Universal Law of Opposites. The Law of Opposites is symbolized in traditional Chinese culture as the sign of the Yin and Yang. Darkness is always followed by Light. Day is always followed by night.
Our desires for specific outcomes often cause us to attract the opposite of what we desire in order to help us become clearer about what it is that we really want. When you see yourself attracting the opposite of what you want over and over again, remain focused on your goal and in time, you will have what you want or an outcome even greater than you could have ever imagined will manifest in your life.
Usually when we attract the opposite of what we want, it is because what we desire is about to manifest. The Universe is always asking us to stay committed to our highest dreams. Sometimes what we desire needs to be refined. This opportunity for refinement gives us the chance to become clearer about what it is that we really want. Often the Universe will help us to become clearer about what we do want by sending us what we don't want.
The Law of Opposites influences our relationships and who we attract. One who desires a mate will often spend a number of years alone. The person who desires a wealthy mate will often attract someone who is materially poor. The person who has challenges expressing herself will attract a partner who is talkative and likes being the center of attention. One who feels powerless and unworthy will attract a mate who is controlling and seeks to have power over the lives of others.
Relationships are mirrors that teach us lessons about ourselves. Partners often reflect personal issues that each is working to heal. The Law of Opposites is at work in our lives to give us opportunities to heal and feel empowered. The person who has come into this life to express her power will live a life where she has to overcome feelings of being a victim. She has to decide if she is going to remain powerless or attract opportunities to feel empowered.
The areas where we have the most challenges are often the areas in our lives where we are in need of the most healing. For example, the person who is timid and refuses to speak up for himself is challenged to become a better communicator. The lesson is to overcome the challenge in order for the individual to share his gifts with humanity.
What about like attracting like? The likeness is in the reality that the people we attract into our lives are often facing the same issues and challenges we are facing. Your relationships give you opportunities to see yourself from different perspectives so you can learn and grow. The shy and timid person can learn from his outgoing partner how to be more confident and authentic. The humble mate can teach his outgoing partner the importance of humility.
The wealthy individual can teach her partner who struggles financially how she manifests abundance. The poor man can teach his wealthy mate about the importance of being grateful for all that she has. There is no limit to how much each of us can learn from each other.
