Using your life story for massive personal growth by Diane Wing, M.A.

Recognizing your natural tendencies or Inner Magick is a matter of finding the repeating patterns that reflect them. This allows you to grow through enhancing them and playing on your strengths. You may approach this through making a list of your likes and dislikes, but that will only result in a superficial understanding of yourself. By going deeper and understanding your gifts in the context of your life story, your abilities becomes clear, you increase your confidence and self-trust, and it is easier to use them in ways that open you to your ideal vocation and way of being. In this way, your passion presents itself and your life turns on with renewed motivation. If you are feeling like each day is a struggle, it may be because you are going against your nature.

Tell your life story: Beginning is always the hardest part. Start in childhood. Think about the things you did out of sheer enjoyment, or even out of compulsion. Then follow the thread of those things through various experiences and into adulthood to reveal your Inner Magick.

For example, from childhood to academia and through my corporate jobs, I have been writing stories, plays, journals, articles, and newsletters. At summer camp, I wrote a play to perform with my group and told stories to my fellow campers. I wrote stories and told them to my little brothers at bedtime. It did not hinge on a school assignment nor a job duty; I found myself doing it automatically. The act of writing was the easiest way for me to express what was inside or me or to bring a particular topic to light. I wrote training manuals and captured processes so that others could enhance their ability to do a task or comply with policies.

These activities reflected my natural tendencies to write and teach, even informally. I'm compelled to share what I learn when teaching and writing non-fiction and to take flights of fantasy when writing fiction. I have a passion for sharing knowledge and to help others find ways to get and apply the information they need to grow and evolve. It is difficult not to do it. If I'm not writing or sharing ideas, it is hard to sleep and the information bounces inside my head until I let it out onto the page.

Even the intuitive work I do consistently came through since childhood and bled into my corporate jobs where I was sought out to do readings and energy work at the office. I always had an interest and desire to understand the mysteries of tarot, energy work, and astrology. Regardless of my age or the position I held, I did these things instinctively, naturally. My passion has grown over the years, another indication that writing, teaching, and intuitive work is in my nature.

Passion connects to purpose: Passion is an absolute must when connecting to your purpose. Finding it can be difficult, but when you connect with your special gifts, it easily comes forward. Your real purpose in life is to express your gifts into the world for the betterment of others and to raise the overall vibration of yourself and the world. Passion is the result of the creative use of your natural talents, finding more and more ways to use them effectively keeps the momentum flowing and your energy high.

Finding your natural gifts started in childhood using the exercise above. To jumpstart your passion, start at the end. Clarify how you want to be remembered. Think about where you are at present. How do you think you would be remembered given the things you have done and the people you have served up to this point in your life. Now fast forward to the end of your life and envision the kind of impact you had on the world, on those around you, and on yourself.

Ask yourself:
- What did you create?
- What did you overcome?
- How did you help others?
- What transformations did you accomplish?
- What did your life stand for?
- If you have multiple passions, what is the common link that brings them together into a new vision?
- How did you choose to release your Inner Magick?

It may sound strange, but write your obituary and see what comes through for you as you open to the unique impression you could make on the world. The possibilities serve to motivate and enhance your perspective and the role you play in the world.

By getting in touch with your true nature and Inner Magick, it is possible to experience massive growth and evolution as it becomes clear as to the potential impact your talents could have on the world.

Hi Diane! My name is Regina, I'm the new Metaphysics Editor.

Thanks for submitting this article, I really enjoyed the topic! As it stands, it doesn't quite fit our submission guidelines. I have copied them below, but my main comment is on the tone of voice, as we would like to steer clear of personal narratives (that use "I" or "my"), using "we" or third person, etc.

These are the submission guidelines, let me know if you have any questions:

- We are aiming for a professional tone of voice, using "we" rather than "I" to make the articles more inclusive, and also avoid sounding like a personal blog post.
- Topics are meant to be enlightening, thought provoking and uplifting. Any self-promotion is to be included in the author io, rather than the article.
- Please include an author bio, max 60 words (yours is 65)
- Title: 60 characters with spaces included.
- Word Count: 700-1200 words

Otherwise I found the opening lines to be a bit confusing and I'm not sure how to explain it, but the three elements might need explanation or a more obvious intro that connects A, B, and C to your take on personal growth. It only made sense after reading the entire article, just a thought, I had to read it two or three times.

Please feel free to resubmit and let me know if you have any questions.

Blessings!

Regina
