Here is a recipe for a great tasting Whole Foods, Plant Based Burger that will do your body good. Jam packed full of nutrition that will build your blood and boost your immune system.
This recipe makes about 12 burgers that you can freeze for use later... but they never last long.
1 1/2 - Cups of Cooked Garbanzo Beans
1 1/2 - Cups of Cooked Black Beans
3 - Cups of Brown Rice Cooked with Some Veggie Broth
6 - Cloves of Garlic Minced
2 - Tablespoon of No Sodium Chili Powder
1 - Large Cooked Red Beet - Chopped
2 - Tablespoons of Brown Rice Flour
1 - Cup of Moringa Leaves - Dried or Fresh - You can substitute parsley if you like.
(Optional) - 3 Tablespoons - BBQ sauce that is low fat and low sodium - or your favorite steak sauce.
(Optional) - 1 Cup of Crushed Almonds - For a Little More Protein.
Salt and Pepper to Taste
Small amount of spray oil to coat the outside of each burger before putting on the grill... use very little.
1 - Toasted Whole Grain - Wheat Free and Gluten Free Hamburger Bun.
1 - Slice of Tomato
1 or 2 - Lettuce Leaves
Condiments of your choice
Add all the ingredients except the bun, tomato, condiments, and lettuce to a large bowl and use your hands to mash everything together. Now reserve 2 cups of the mixture. Next take the remaining mixture and place it in a food processor, processing until smooth or use a heavy duty blender. Now combine the reserved mixture back with the processed mixture and mix well.
Make your burger patties from about 1/3 pound of the mixture.
Take one of the patties and spray with a small amount of spray oil just before you place it on a hot grill. The small amount of oil will brown the outside of the burger so it has the nice grilled look. When brown in the edges remove from grill and place on a toasted bun... garnish with lettuce and tomato and whatever else you like... pickles, relish, you choose.
PS -- I named this burger after our little dog “Higo” (Spanish for Fig) who has a lot of personality... so much so that I nick named her “Bubba”... she’s so much fun.
