The Winter Celebration

Posted on December 2, 2015 at 1:52pm 0 Comments

Since the dawn of civilization December has been a month of celebration, for midway through the month the days stop becoming shorter as light once again returns to the world. Just after the Solstice, the longest, darkest of these nights, we celebrate Christmas, a midwinter festival, or modern feast day, where families gather to give gifts to each other and indulge in good food and merriment. It is important to honor the celebration, to gather with friends and feast. It is at this time that…

The Delight of the Herb Garden

Posted on February 12, 2015 at 5:04pm 1 Comment

"For all things produced in a garden whether of salads or fruits, a poor man will eat better that has one of his own, than a rich man that has none." – John Claudius Lourdes, Scottish Botanist 1783-1843

While early spring is often too cold to start many plants in the ground, it is a perfect time to get outside and enjoy the warming weather by starting a container herb garden. There is nothing quite like working with the sun on your shoulders and your hands in the dirt as you tend…

That the simple act of sitting quietly as you shift your attention to your breath, following as it slowing enters and leaves your body, not only allows for the cultivation of regenerative peace, but a myriad of new studies have found that this ancient practice can profoundly change the way different regions of the brain…

The Power of Meditation

Posted on July 8, 2014 at 4:30pm 6 Comments

When you close your eyes and take a deep breath are you filled with peace or does a voice chatter away in your head reminding you of all the things left undone? Most of us have active minds that are prone to worry. Learning the ability to shut off the stream of thoughts and connect with one’s own inner voice allows for the cultivation of rejuvenating peace and inspiration. It allows for one to learn to not worry about the future or the past but to be present, to wake to life. Meditation is…

The Art of Manifesting

Posted on January 13, 2014 at 12:00am 2 Comments

“Our life is a manifestation, and we can very well make that manifestation beautiful and meaningful and have a good influence.” Thich Nhat Hanh

I'm sure you've heard of the act of manifesting, but do you really know what it is? Manifesting is the process of conscious creation. It is the creation of the reality we live in by applying the universal law of attraction or, "what is within, is without." Which means: what is first created inside the mind will eventually become an outward…
