Do you consciously think about the energy you bring into a room on any given day?
Watching Jill Bolte Taylor (Author 'A Stroke of Insight') on the Oprah Winfrey Network today, I was struck by her retelling of her experiences after a major stroke caused the left side of her brain shut down for two weeks, leaving her with 'no brain chatter', no 'baggage' and an expansive sense of inner peace and awareness of others' energy.
This 'stroke of insight' caused…Continue
I’ve been raising kids for over 26 years. We have four kids, ranging in age from 26 to eight. First rule we have in our house is “think for yourself.” This comes into conflict when the young ones come home with “Johnny just invited me to go to church with him on Sunday. They are going to have movies and cookies! Can I go?”
Our kids are required to question, question and question again. It has, at times, made it tough to get cooperation before their line of logic is…Continue

A defining moment that propelled me forward on my personal spiritual journey, was reading Out on a Limb, Shirley MacLaine’s 1983 autobiographical accounts of her own spiritual journey. My quest has led me down many revealing avenues, exploring so many possibilities, that they are far too numerous to even begin to list. It seems fitting that at this point in my journey, I re-found Shirley (though she was never really lost to me), by way of her newest book, I’m Over All…Continue

Great things have come our way in the past.

I want to write about determination; more specifically, chutzpah. Chutzpah is having the nerve or backbone to stand up to an issue or someone whether you are justified or not. It is that determination, passion and drive that sets you apart from others. Other words for chutzpah are: cheekiness, insolence, impertinence, impudence, crust, freshness, gall, utter nerve, shameless audacity,…Continue

Control of the mind is said to be the highest Yoga.
It is like control of an unruly horse which must be made to obey its rider.
-Bhagavata Purana, XI.20
And a new year begins…New years is known for resolutions. Most of us resolve to lose weight or to begin an exercise plan and get in shape. We plan to end annoying habits and make ourselves better. While these goals are admirable, why not resolve to be happy? You can. Just decide that you are…Continue

Loving what Was
by Judi Lynch
As spiritual beings, we all aspire to live our lives with no regrets! We know that our experiences are a part of our soul’s journey to embrace and celebrate. The divine, the not so divine and the in between absurdities are all a part of the plan. We learn to pick ourselves up when we fall and we also learn how to help others do the same.
It still happens that every now and then we get emotional over the past and what might have been or what…Continue

Someone recently asked the question “How do you get rid of deep seated anger” ?
You have wondered about this, right? We all have......That long standing, deep seated rage that you think you have seen the last of only to watch it rear it’s ugly head at the most unexpected trigger...like ... someone glances at you funny. We all know about it because we all have it or at…

Unity is a very important theme. It is critical to the resolution of the many problems facing our nation and our world today because without it we will never be able to engage the necessary solutions.
In this election year it’s painfully clear that there are many people with many differences. Many needs. Many perspectives. Many polarities. Many grievances. Many resentments. Many biases. Many prejudices. A great deal of intolerance. A great deal of hostility. A great deal of rage and…Continue

It’s that time of year again. When our inner critics kick in and start making resolutions. To look better, think better, act better, live better, love better. We delusionally think these resolutions will revolutionize the world. Or at least our world.
The real power lives in what we actually do every day, not what we aspire to do. Rituals are not only comforting, they’re transformational. And worth cultivating. So where to start?

2011, Year of Mastery? I can almost hear you say, “Are you crazy? It was the worst year I can remember. First there were a series of disasters in the world and then at least three or more in my personal life. What kind of ‘mastery’ is that??!!
O.K. I know many of us have seen our dreams dissolve or at least take a startling side track. I realize globally it has been a year of distressing weather. Hundreds of souls left the planet to “go home”. Many of the…Continue

The young man wearily makes his way home from the long day of labour in the fields. He wipes his brow before pushing open the heavy wooden door of his log cabin. Inside the fire burns warmly and brightly in the hearth, casting shadows around the sparsely furnished room. After closing the door, he makes his way to the long wooden table where he sits and waits, as he does every evening, for his wife to bring him his dinner. They appear to be the only ones in this one roomed home and by the cut…Continue

Liberation from “God” to Find God by Riet Okken
You cannot feel Me because you have never given Me your true feelings.
~God, as channelled by Ceanne deRohan
What is the relationship between God and emotions and how stand the denial of our emotions, also those towards God, in the way of the connection to God and the realization of ourselves? To begin with, a personal story as written in my diary:

Love is spoken of everywhere, all the time: in conversations with friends, on bumper stickers, in the Bible, on the cover of magazines. Fear, on the other hand, is not often spoken of as such, but more and more felt by many, maybe more so by those who watch the news. So what about the spiritual teachings on love and fear?
The love referred to in spiritual teachings isn’t a feeling, it is the deepest and most truthful experienceof reality one can have when we reconnect to…Continue

“The Relaxed Soul on Understanding Differences”
We all have great talents… it's just discovering what those talents are that's important... and accepting that some people are better at some things than others.
It would be a very boring place if we all had the same talents.
Blessed are we for being different...
Blessed are we for waking up to our strengths...
Blessed are we for knowing our weak…Continue

Pranayama is the ancient science of breathing and has been studied for thousands of years. Pranayama has nothing to do with any specific religious belief, but represents the cumulative knowledge of the properties, capacities, and powers of breathing purposefully. That knowledge has been distilled, preserved, and passed down in the form of breathing exercises, from generation to generation, by countless seekers of a true, healthy, and happy life.
Deep breathing allows us to…Continue

The object of a New Year is not that we should have a new year. It is that we should have a new soul. ~ G. K. Chesterton
