Bryon Katie is one of my favorite authors. She provides simple techniques to question our thoughts and beliefs. One of her core messages is: when we argue with “what is”, we suffer.
Take a minute and think about issues that you may be suffering. Most likely, you are fighting “what is” and focusing on “what should be”. Some of the thoughts and beliefs are based on what you understood and accepted as a child. Perhaps this is a thought and/or belief that has persisted in…Continue

In my knitting adventures I often come across people who have picked up needlecrafts in response to a stressful or traumatic event in their lives. Loss of a loved one, loss of a job, empty nest, post traumatic stress- the list could go on. Author, artist and knitter Gregory Patrick is one such person. I met Gregory online and his story is both interesting and compelling. He is a self-taught knitter whose command of the craft is precise and beautiful and his workmanship is of the highest…Continue
How many of you at times feel that you are in this World, but not of it? It is not uncommon to feel this way. For many of us these are the first stirrings, the first pangs of discontent with the world of matter, or the physical World. Many wisdom schools tell us this World is “Maya”, or Illusion. We ask ourselves – “Is this all there is?” …Continue

Winter came sooner and more powerful than expected. I woke up to 18 inches of snow and 8 degrees Fahrenheit. By noon we got another 3 inches and it is still coming down heavy.
Snow makes me slow down. It is soothing and calming to look at the flakes falling gently, sometimes heavy, sometimes light. There is a hush to the world, everything is quiet up here in the mountains when it snows, all sounds are dimmed, the distant mountains are invisible. All there is is just in front of me. No…Continue

Benjamin Franklin, writing in The Pennsylvania Gazette, April 8, 1736, wrote of the American doctrine behind freedom of speech and of the press:
Freedom of speech is a principal pillar of a free government;…Continue
BE the Light!
"Save the Earth" has almost become a cliche' these days and I am saddened by this. All too often when something becomes so well known it ends up being tossed to the "Useless Info" department that resides in the human brain.
Well, Yarn Therapy, in conjuction with SACRED Space Studio, is out…Continue
Is There AnY Way to Get our Authors to post Under the Appropriate GROUPS as well as an individual blog post? As OM Times continues to excel & grow - we need to organize and restructure. Maybe you've noticed. Some groups have disappeared - new ones added.
The groups are for the individual editors so they can manage the sections. But they need your help!
I see lots of health & wellness /healing articles ... but they are never posted…Continue

A Story of Censored Hope
This Humanity Healing STREETteam roving reporter finally caught up with the individuals responsible for the Breast Cancer Awareness Body Painting Project (BCABPP) and was so inspired by the story, I had to share it. As a breast cancer survivor myself, being invited to participate in this project is an honor and one that I believe in and…Continue
I stood in front of the group, preparing to teach my first lesson in yoga teacher training: just one simple movement. Time slowed and my heart raced. Could I really guide other people toward inner balance when I felt so unsettled? I would be teaching the exact thing I needed to learn most, but maybe this was the only way to truly learn it.
A twenty-six year old struggling actor/writer, I had traveled alone from New York City to India to complete a month-long yoga teacher…

Yoga is a peaceful practice that for thousands of years has taken the fearless wisdom seeker on a journey that begins and ends with(in). It sounds a bit contradictory, but life as we know is full of contradictions. It is the Yin & Yang of the universe that keeps it all together. Yoga goes as far…
When you go to a movie, you willingly suspend your beliefs for an hour or two. I’m only asking you to suspend them for a few minutes. This has to do with your happiness, so do pay attention.
You don’t exist.
At least not in the way you think you do.
Oh, you’re a human being, alright, a physical contraption with a sophisticated brain that guides you step by step through your earthly journey. You had a mother and a father and perhaps a sibling or two. You’re married or…Continue

GREATness Begins with Being GRATEful
Have you every thought about what it means to give thanks or how it can actually benefit the body? Many celebrate and give thanks in the month of November for the previous years’ harvest and bounty, while also giving thanks for what the future holds. While some cultural traditions have taught children to indulge in food and drink in a way that did not honor the body, mind or spirit,…
It’s hard to believe another month has come and gone! Where oh where does the time go when you’re having fun? Technically, time is the same whether we enjoy it or not, so why not embrace each moment as an adventure to create fun or at least something positive from each experience? Being conscious and aware in each moment we are granted an opportunity to take those metaphorical “lemons” and create “lemonade!” Some situations are easier to recognize than others, but I believe…Continue
It’s easy to fan the flames - try blowing on the embers.
Are you feeling stuck, and powerless? Going through the same routine – going to work, looking for a job, or maybe you are in a loveless, sexless marriage or relationship, but because this is the devil that…Continue

Have you ever noticed how people love to indulge in the pastime of complaining?
The government, the tax system, criminals, bad sit-coms, the noisy neighbours, we complain about everything really. And what is complaining anyway? Well, it’s deciding that things aren’t right because they’re not the way we want them to be.
Complaining betrays a deep, driven need to control things around us. It also cuts us off from gratitude. When…Continue
