5 Holistic Approaches to Support Digestive Health

Everyone experiences heartburn, gas, constipation, diarrhea and nausea from time to time. However, if you have those symptoms all of the time, then this could be a sign of poor digestive health. The good news is that there are several ways that you can improve your digestive health.

Eat Real Food

An unhealthy diet is one of the most common causes of poor digestive health. Food additives, refined carbohydrates and saturated fat can put you at risk for developing digestive problems. Artificial sweeteners can also cause harmful bacteria to multiply in your digestive tract.

That is why you will need to limit your intake of processed foods. You should eat whole foods as much as you can.

Eat Smaller Portions

It is a lot easier for your body to digest small portions of food. You should also eat your food slowly. Eating slowly can also prevent gas and other digestive issues. This doesn’t mean that you should not eat enough. However, make sure that you don’t overstuff yourself if you are having digestive issues. You should make sure that you take any fiber, yogurt, and water.

Supplements and Hydration

Low fluid intake can increase the risk of constipation. That is why you will need to drink plenty of water throughout the day. Your water needs can vary and will depend on your weight, health and activity level. However, if you are not drinking water until you feel thirsty, then you are probably dehydrated. Make sure that your hydrate yourself and take the proper supplements to promote digestive regularity to your overall digestive health with antibacterial CBD tincture. Exercise can improve your digestive health. Studies have shown that people who are active are less likely to have digestive issues. However, it is important for you to time your workouts appropriately. You should wait at least one hour before working out after you eat.

Manage Your Stress

Stress is one of the things that can cause a lot of damage to your digestive health. It has been linked to IBS, diarrhea, stomach ulcers and constipation. Stress has your body in constant flight or fight mode. If your body is in flight or fight mode, then the food won’t be able to digest properly.


Your nervous system and digestive system are connected. This is why when you are anxious you can get a stomach ache. This is no coincidence, make sure that you learn breathing exercises to be able to calm down your heart rate, your breathing, and your stress.

Deep belly breathing, yoga and meditation can lower your stress.


Poor digestive health can cause unpleasant symptoms. Fortunately, you can improve your digestive health by eating healthy, drinking plenty of water and exercising. You will also need to manage your stress and eat smaller portions of food.
