We receive intuitive messages many ways and one of the ways is through pictures or images that pop up in our mind. Clairvoyance is known as 'clear seeing' which is receiving intuitive messages through images outside of you or seeing them in your mind's eye. In my working with students, often there seems to be confusion over what 'seeing in your mind's eye' means for people. Here are a few myths and tips that can help you receive images as intuitive messages.

Myth 1: "Clairvoyant images are seen outside the body and are in full technicolor high definition detail." Okay, there are two myths here. First, most people who receive messages clairvoyantly 'see' them in their mind's eye. That is the same place where your imagination creates images. Remember, these are not images outside of you. If you can spell the word "CAT" in your mind by picturing the letters, you can receive intuitive images. Secondly, another misconception is clairvoyant images are highly detailed and elaborate.

Tip 1:The images that you see clairvoyantly are usually not in full detail and they may not be complete. For example, you may see a face clairvoyantly, but only see hair shape and style, but the face features are not clear. Clairvoyant images are often piecemeal. Many times what you remember is only a part of the image, but if you try to remember more of the image, you'll realize there was more in the image you saw. Keep in mind these images are in your mind's eye, not always outside of you.

Myth 2: "Clairvoyance is something you are born with and is not developed, either you have it or you don't." As my students have heard me say many times, most of us can see, feel, hear, smell and taste.  We don't classify ourselves as just a 'seeing' person or a 'hearing' person. So, wouldn't it make sense that we can be clairvoyant (see our intuitive messages), clairaudient (hear our intuitive messages), clairsentient (feel our messages), clairalient (smell messages) and clairgustant (receive messages through taste) all together? Many times people feel that they are only clairsentient because they recognize more of their intuitive messages through feeling.  But that doesn't mean that they don't get messages clairvoyantly, OR cannot develop clairvoyance.

Tip 2: In the beginning of developing my own intuitive skills, I did not receive images as intuitive messages, and always thought being clairvoyant would be awesome. Through intuition development techniques I am now very clairvoyant. How was this done? First, believe that you can do this, because you are a seeing person. By practicing noticing images in your mind and even creating them through your imagination, you will become more familiar with your 'mind's eye'. You can further your practice by looking at pictures, paintings and drawings in magazines, museums and books. When you are looking at a picture with your physical eyes, close your eyes and in your mind, imagine the picture you just saw. This will help you become familiar with what 'seeing in your mind's eye' means to you.

Myth 3: "Experiencing making an image in our imagination is different from a clairvoyant image." People expect that a clairvoyant image is going to be strikingly different from what we experience when we are imagining something. An intuitive image is very similar to an image that you create in your imagination. While we are not making up a clairvoyant image in our mind, the way a clairvoyant image comes to us is similar in fashion to what we experience and "see" when we are making up an image in our imagination. There also seems to be a misconception of where your mind's eye actually is. It actually isn't any particular place in your head, and even if it is somewhere in your brain, you can't really tell anyway.

Tip 3: Quite a few of my students tell me that they can't create images in their mind's eye. This is partly because of definitions of both what an image is and where they think their mind's eye is. Some people have been told that if you close your eyes and look at where your third eye is inside your head, that this is where your clairvoyant images reveal themselves. You don't have to do that, plus I think that may be a bit uncomfortable to do. You experience your intuitive images the same way you imagine images in your mind. For example, imagine you are standing in front of your home. Can you create an image or "see in your mind's eye" the front of your home? That is how clairvoyant images appear in your mind.

There's nothing mysterious about how to receive clairvoyant intuitive messages. It's important to remember the images are not detailed and may be just pieces of an image. Practice your clairvoyance and you may soon find that you're receiving intuitive messages through those pictures in your mind.

Have fun with your intuitive images, you are clairvoyant! Practice by going out now and noticing images and pictures you see around you. Pay attention to what you see in detail outside of you. The more you notice outside of you, the better able you'll be to notice your inner intuitive images. Let me know what your thoughts are on receiving images as intuitive messages and what you think of clairvoyance! Hi Georgi!

I think your clairvoyance can work in both ways. We often receive messages that are not just for ourselves but others. It's great the way the Universe works in that way.  People who need to hear the message do. I often find that on my radio show, that those who call in for a message often receive one that helps them and other listeners at the same time.

Discernment is important to be able to know when it is your Ego making things up or whether you are receiving a true divine message. Asking for divine guidance for your highest good is always how I begin to receive messages. I think that "cleansing" for me is a broader case of living as best a healthy lifestyle as I can, both physically and spiritually.  That always brings everything up in terms of goodness.

Also, learning a methodology and techniques that work to hone your intuitive skills to connect to inner divine guidance is key.  Knowing how to work with your intuition and also what a true intuitive message is is important. Then the next most important thing is to practice!

Hope this helps you!

blessings, Lisa

Hi Lisa!

Lovely article. I am wondering and have been inquiring beyond the field of imagination for some time - both in terms of the phenomena of dreaming and in terms of images emerging in meditation. I have a question.

In the work of Edgar Cayce, dreaming (which I feel is also often in the category of clairvoyance?) is emerging from a dimension of timelessness and boundlessness. In the Cayce groups, it is understood that the dream is at the same time saying something about the dreamer herself, AND the target that she is dreaming about.

To give an example: Hilda asks for a dream to bring light on the situation of Fred who is in depression. She has a dream in the coming time in which she sees a horse with its legs caught in ice. Her deceased father is there, with a blow-torch, trying to melt the ice around the horses feet so it will be free. Hilda immediately feels this dream is about her own process and recognizes the frustration in her father in trying to "melt the ice" in the communication freeze that was there between himself and his sisters. Yet, in sharing the dream with Fred, it becomes apparent that the same dream is also telling something about his depression, and his frustration in trying to use thinking analysis to try and liberate old feelings of being forsaken as a child.

Does clairvoyance also work both ways? Telling something at the same time about the individual, the projected field of fears, the others, and perhaps about a whole group?

If so, how do you employ discernment in taking responsibility for where you (the individual) begin, and where you end? Do you use a general "cleansing" or "dedication" to the greater good in order to support this?

Much love from Israel,
