Everyday you make the decison whether to be happy or unhappy. It is a choice. Perhaps the phone rings before you wake-up, setting your temper into motion. You're already apprehensive about a problem that is facing you for the day, so the noise and invastion of the phone brings out negative feelings that gets your day off to a bad start. What makes the situation worse is that you have experienced this type of reaction for so long, getting into a happy mood is hard. You are actually going against your biological mechanisms. What's bad is these unpleasant emotions paralize mental processes, they short-circuit your thinking and cause inappropriate choices. This boils down to your conditioned subconscious mind being in charge of your emotions and feelings. Jerry Minchinton who wrote "Maximum Self-Esteem" has this to say." By reaction to problems in this mechaical fashion, you neglect the opportunity to address them consciously and creatively and forteit the chance to solve them and learn from them as well....there is nothing, absolutely nothing that does not have positive aspect as well as negative." You can learn to make appropriate choices each waking day and walk out that day aware your negative, subconsiouness may prefer anger and hostility. It is a choice, but not an easy choice. Just some food for thought to help you make happy choices today.
