The crown chakra is the energy-center living inside us that is responsible for our spiritual connections, awareness, thoughts, and wisdom. It is the seventh chakra. This sacred energy is the light of cosmic consciousness that each of us carry. Located at the top of our head, this chakra helps to regulate the energy of consciousness. Giving us access to higher frequencies, we open up to what is beyond our human senses. The color of the crown chakra symbol is white and the petals are like a rainbow.
The crown chakra is associated with the pituitary gland, the pineal gland and the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus and pituitary gland work together to regulate the endocrine system. The crown chakra is closely connected to the brain and the nervous system.
When our crown chakra is balanced, we feel connected to our spiritual guidance and Higher Self, we easily access our inner connections, feel connected in unity to others and the enjoyment of life. We see the higher meaning in situations, we feel a sense of calm and peace no matter what the challenges. We are grounded in our thought process and in control of our emotions. Our intuitive abilities are heightened and easy to validate. We feel more serene and enlightened.
When the crown chakra is out of balance, or blocked, some of the common symptoms are lack of empathy, feeling disconnected, lack of inspiration or purpose and depression. Negativity and lack of motivation can cloud the energy flow at the source and energy flow through the body over time. Physical symptoms include chronic headaches, poor coordination and lack of energy. There are many reasons for these conditions to occur. Extreme emotional stress, physical illness, life challenges and many other situations can cause the crown chakra to need healing and assistance. With positive actions it really is possible to find a happier existence and more hopeful outcomes to life’s challenges.
In some cases an overactive crown chakra can also cause a few other symptoms to occur. A tendency to be judgmental of others, feeling superior, aggression, criticism and paranoid feelings of distrust and disconnection can manifest when the crown chakra is too active.
There are several practices and mantras to help us heal and maintain a healthy crown chakra.
Crystals such as clear quartz, selenite, or amethyst can help open the crown chakra. Holding them during meditation or placing them by the pillow during sleep are common practices. Writing down what comes in intuitively when you wake up to help you identify the block can be extremely helpful. Foods that are violet in color such as eggplant, ginger and several other herbal teas can also help.
Here are a few other suggestions to help heal and maintain the crown chakra:
When the crown chakra begins to open up it is common to feel physical side effects. Ranging from a tingling in the head to feeling something comparable to an electric charge pulse through the body, starting at the head. Healthy nutrition, positive thoughts and a daily practice of connection and renewal can really assist us in keeping things charged up.
The crown chakra helps us transcend our limitations-physically, mentally and spiritually. It shines our awareness on the soul’s purpose and helps to keep our energy in evolution and blissful experiences. We receive wisdom, joy, hope, insight and the light of the spiritual consciousness through this glowing crown at the top of our heads.
